When I was in the area on Sunday, 104.1 HD-2 was running a loop of "the JAM Jingles Song" (don't know the official name of it), and when I drove back through there today, they were simulcasting The Touch.

Their new web site - nice by the way - is all about 95.3.  No mention of 1400 at all.  I wonder how Arbitron will handle a situation in which a translator is promoted as the main station, and will probably get more diary mentions.  Will any mentions of the Touch be credited to 1400, as it is the originating station?  Will it/can it be listed as a simulcast?  Does Arbitron actually list any translators anywhere?  This is a unique situation.  I wonder how they will resolve it.

Of course, it will only be a unique situation until other people jump on the bandwagon.  There are some small town AMs around here with practically no nighttime coverage which could benefit from a low power FM translator.  They'd better hurry up and get their applications in, however, before Temple University, Hope Chuch of Marlton New Jersey, and bigger commercial broadcasters suck up every available frequency.

Driving East on 283 this morning, 95.3 The Touch comes in great until around the first E-town exit. In fact it was even stopping on the scan button at that point. As you get closer to Mt. Joy, it starts fighting with the 95.3 signal out of New Holland. Both of the translators on 95.3 seem to have great coverage.

Since 95.3 is only a translator, and therefore cannot originate any programming, it's safe to assume that 1400 will stay with The Touch.

That's not what their GM is saying...telling the Patriot News they will leave it the touch for now, and put something new on there.

I didn't know it's legal for a repeater to be used to repeat an HD 2 signal (The Touch is running as well on WNNK's HD-2.) If so and no one knew, Pandora's Box is open...

I think what their GM means is that something else other than The Touch may be put on the WNNK HD-2 channel, not on AM 1400.  95.3 is a translator for AM 1400.  John Summers and Dstroyer are right, no translator is allowed to originate programming, it must duplicate its originating station 100-percent.  Unless I really missed something, I don't think an FM translator may re-broadcast an HD-2 channel.
