Or maybe the could've just left well enough alone in 2004 and hired some salespeople who actually knew the format they were supposed to be selling?

Or does that make too much sense?

There I go, answering my own question again!

He was permitted on board the bus by an irresponsible bus driver. If anything, he peformed a public service. Had the bus driver forbid him from boarding and he went on anyway, then he should have been arrested. The bus driver and the school system bear ultimate responsibility here. Not the juvenile antics of a nutty morning show guy. He was doing what he gets paid to do!

Chris, you probably don't have small children.  We know absolutely nothing about this man's personal life.  If he'd boarded the bus my 9-year-old daughter rides every day, he'd be gumming his meals by now.

And, no, he wasn't just "doing his job."  His job is to provide something resembling entertainment on the radio.  I'm hoping someone can explain to me what possible benefit for the listener (yes, the listener - remember that word?) this entire bit was supposed to have had.  The entire thing was juvenile, stupid, and certainly not worthy of the market size.

The entire show and whoever greenlit the idea should be looking for work.

Oh, and one more thing.

If this radio genius was truly providing a "public service" as you put it, then do we thank the idiots in California for providing a "public service" about water intoxication?

Well?

I agree with you 100% Eggman.  As a father of a 9 yr old in H-ville, I find that stunt and the fact that the guy actually went on, VERY offensive.  As one who has been at the bus stop with my son on occassion, I can't help but feel a little uneasy now as I watch my son board the bus.  Now, I have to think about this as what really worries me are the copy cats that will get ideas now.  You could make the argument that these Bozos are responsible now for any copycat acts in the future.  I hope the fox station idiot is GONE, as he admitted it was his idea.

I am not in the market, but what are the ratings of this show? Are they popular?

They seem to be popular among 17 year olds and under.

Just the kind of audience that might appreciate such a juvenile prank.

The latest ratings show them in 9th in the market, with News Talk WBT rated 4 notches above them!

YO Egg,

You are right on here. They should all be looking for work, in another field!

It's a shame what passes for entertainment these days. No wonder I don't listen to most terrestrial stations anymore. I listen to XM most of the time, no stupid lame juvenile pranks there.

Too bad the suits at Cheap Channel got rid of the best station in Charlotte and replaced it with this useless, worthless mess of crap.

My point is simple, if the bus driver was stupid enough to let him on the bus, then Cubby exposed a very serious security threat for every child on that bus. Thank God it was a harmless wacky radio guy and not a deranged pedophile. If you read the article, the radio jerks were as surprised as you are outraged that they were actually allowed on. Perhaps this story will serve as a public service if it results in greater awareness of what that bus driver ALLOWED to happen and how unacceptable it is

BTW, I have a small child also... but I don't trust ANYONE to take him to school other than his mother. Cubby helped demonstrate why.

You're completely ignoring a very important point.  You say Cubby is not a pedophile.  You know that for certain, do you?

Just about as well as I know that he, in fact, is.  See my point?

Well the bus driver got fired.

Here is a little info about Cubby:

Squires was previously arrested in November 2002 on a charge of soliciting sex from an undercover officer. He agreed to admit guilt, and the charges were dropped after a year.
