Well, XTalker, as to your saying it could've been a guy with a gun, hang on.  Maybe The Beat will handle that one for you too.

I'm done.

Mike Sheridan was right on the money...stunts that mess with kids aren't good radio fare...

Some of you who are blowing this off as not important obviously do not either live in the real world or have small children.  The light treatment and reasoning for doing this stunt makes it much different than a reporter looking for an issue with security story.  There are many late and post teens that listen to 96.1 and some are easier to convince to be stupid than others.  As mentioned earlier, the copycat aspect of this is what is worrisome down the line.   Now that the thought is floating out there, what if the next idiot decides to push their way onto the bus now that this option is well known?  Also, since CharMeck did fire the bus driver, why hasn’t CC done the same?  THEY are responsible for this entire action occurring after all!   Should CC not be expected to help pay for some of the fired bus driver's expenses now that she was fired and they are directly responsible for it happening?   This guy, along with the Bruther, should both receive the same treatment as the bus driver now.  I work at a large company locally where this is being talked about by people not in the biz.  They seem to be just as outraged over this stunt as I am.   CC better react.

#1. Soliciting is a charge usually involved with prostitution. Crimes against nature involves...well you know.
Cub was charged with Crimes against Nature.

#2. They HAD to know about these sexual crime charges before the stunt. Unless someone lied on their forms. "have you ever been charged/convicted of a felony? if yes explain..." At the same time it's somewhat known in the market that he was busted in the past-so it's not a huge surprise that this part of the story came out. Hello cbs/infinity.

#3. They put someone involved in a sex crime (cleared or whatever) around CHILDREN.

#4. They should be gone. ALL gone. PD, the show, all of them.

Turning it around on CMS is offensive, very desperate, and smacks of CC Mgmt "creative thinking". It's radio public relations 101. A bit goes bad...really bad, if there is ANY doubt of it going south, what do you do? Stop the bit. Apologize. SHUT UP about it. Try to make it right IF you can after bringing the PD into the conversation. Don't put it on the website so every TV station can get the cuts THEY want to use. Don't blame a bus driver who most people think is probably working two or three jobs trying to make ends meet.

This is what happens when you fire all the people that know how to manage a decent station (not stations)  and hire people based on pay, not talent or experience. Junk attracts junk.

They had to be on thin ice anyway. The station had that initial pop-but since then has been lacking in every department. Talent, ratings, music selection/rotation, promotion, etc. Why are CC putting Ace & TJ on in Columbia and not a CC Charlotte or even Atlanta talent on NOK?
PD gone. AM Show gone.

I get what you are saying about this lame morning show stunt, however, many of you are missing the bigger issue: A school bus driver allowed someone she did not know to board a bus. And a school system has no policy or procedure to make sure it doesn't happen.

What if it was a pedifile intent on doing harm to the children?

I realize school bus drivers are hard working people - and yes, probably working a couple of jobs to make ends meet. And I also realize in the early days of the school year, the driver will more than likely encounter some unknown passengers. If the driver knew it was a stunt, she should be fired.

The situation does present some questions for school officials:

1 - Should there be some system of identifying those who are supposed to be on the bus?
2 - Should there be some guideline for bus drivers to identify the 26 year old vs the 12 year old?

If I were a parent of a youngster in any school system, I would be asking the questions. If school officials are offended by them, we probably need new school officials.

You want a stunt, here's one for you.  Give the bus driver Cubby's job.  Now that would be a great stunt!

According to a TV news report today, the bus driver plans to sue WIBT/CC.  I feel for the young lady (really young, only 20 yrs old) as she has lost her job due to CC's childish prank.  CC gains ratings, she loses her job....

What would the reaction be if 1) it wasn't a CC station, and 2) it was done by a news crew instead of a radio morning show?

CMS should take a very close look at their procedures. You parents of nine year olds should be concerned about the breech of security. It appears it is pretty easy for someone to board a bus - could have been a person with a gun and there could be 30 or 40 bodies to pick up instead of a lame radio stunt!!

Personally I would have the same reaction no matter who owned the station, this was a stupid childish stunt.

It would have been somewhat different had it been done by a news crew, but still probably wrong.  Probably the news crew would have tried to board the bus and if successful they probably would have stopped at that point having made their point and gotten the main part of the story.

Still it did give me an opportunity to rag on the Evil CC.

There is no doubt that CMS needs new school officials. I constantly laugh at the bozos on the school board and am thankful that I do not live in Mecklenburg county in part because of the joke of a school board they have.

I always get such a kick out of the people who call talk radio complaining about the CMS system and the board, wanting change.  There will be no change in CMS as long as the voters keep re-electing the same bozos to the board.  If they want things to change they need to get a new board that has some brains.
