A couple of things:

Firstly, BostonRadioWatch.com reports that WODS begins a "Secret Santa" contest on Monday morning and wonders when they will flip to all-Christmas this year.  They mention that they went all-Christmas on Nov 12th last year.  I would say definitely earlier this year than last year.

Secondly, I was just checking ODS's website.  No mention of the upcoming Secret Santa contest but I happened to check the jock page and Dale Dorman's bio has been moved to the "Weekend Crew" and there is no mention of any morning show whatsoever.  With no morning show pictured, Dale is pictured alone on his bio and morning show newsreader June Knight is amongst the missing.  June was out this week (supposedly on vacation).  Mauzy Stafford was doing the news reports.

Is Oldies going through more cuts??  They already beached Patrick Callahan and the morning show's Jimmy Del Ponte earlier this year.

I had heard that Dale's contract is not being renewed, though I didn't want to say/post anything until there was some official mention, and I guess removing Dale's morning show from the website qualifies.

I don't know anyone involved personally, but I don't think Dale wanted to retire yet. If that's true, it's a real shame if he's being "let go" IMO. I guess it remains to be heard whether he will actually be doing weekends. I think that this morning was his last morning show.

I don't know about what's happening with June, but she certainly put many dedicated years in there, and she always did a great job in her role. Maybe she's being "let go" as part of the morning show package. I guess it remains to be heard who will be moved into mornings.

Just checked out the website - Dale has been moved to the weekend line-up.  I have no idea if he wanted to retire. I have heard though that his ratings have not been good in a long time.  Dale had a great run in radio...maybe he just didn't deliver to Oldies what management hoped he would in terms of ratings. I'm not sure how long he was at Oldies but it seemed like they stuck with him for quite a while maybe even longer than they should have if their numbers were down for a long period of time. Over the years I have listened to his show and it didn't seem like there was much going on (very cut and dry) Change in this case may be a good thing.  I wish him well.

I didn't see June Knight's picture on the site...not too sure what is up with her status.

Stunned. Totally stunned by this news.

Uncle Dale is a TRUE PRO.

I guess the bottom line is Oldies did what they had to do, but still... wow.

103.3's ratings have been down in the morning for a long time through various hosts, from long before Dale was hired five years ago. 103.3 has had a longtime problem with mornings mainly because Loren & Wally on 105.7 have established a lock on the "retro" (oldies/classic) demo in Boston in the mornings. 103.3 has higher overall ratings than 105.7, but L&W on 105.7 has blown them away in morning drive for many years. 103.3 actually went up a little bit in the mornings with Dale, but unfortunately, not by all that much.

Her "MySpace" page says she's on vacation in LA this week... but it's not a good sign that she's taken off the 103.3 website.

She's probably out there looking for a new gig.

Also, looked at the website and Harry "Bud" Nelson who did weekends is not on the weekend crew page anymore. Curious if he will still be at the station. Maybe J.J. Wright goes to mornings and Harry Nelson nights. Who knows, we will just have to wait and see.

In my opinion, I don't think moving JJ to mornings would be a good move at all.  I caught him one morning filling in for Dale and there was nothing there at all.  I don't think putting him there is the answer.  It's just more of the same.  Oldies needs to do something in the morning that will get some attention and be fun and compelling. Just my opinion.
