How often do you think they've kicked themselves for leaving KSON? Clear Channel from the start never had any goal other than using that KUSS to nibble at KSON's numbers and they never had a chance of seriously taking on KSON.

I don't think they've kicked themselves very much.  I know the background story of what happened, and I think they did what they had to do at the time.  I also don't think they had any misconceptions about what they were walking in to.  When you're dealing at a high level on big, long term contracts you do the best you can do and hope the other side does what they say they'll do.  They lost to Cliff and company because KSON commited to winning, and there were better smarter people up the chain that made that happen, including the eventual gelling of Cliff, Morgan and that other guy that reminds me of a shelter puppy (sorry Tanner, but it's the trooooootttthhhhhppppppppth!).  KSON had their tat in a bind and pulled it out through determination.  That's not a slam on T&K.  They tried to take the KSON show to a place that wasn't going to play hardball the way JP/LF was.  Not really their fault, just the place they landed, not altogether because they wanted to.

I'd work with either morning show anywhere, anytime.  They're all good folks.  (Though I still prefer the insanity of a Halloran remote.)

Don't hold back. Halloran and the 94/9 crew have done something: made a run and playing it alternative style.

Cliff, Morgan, Tony, Kris.....all good folk.  Is there a possible, long term syndication deal in the works with one of the teams?

Stand by while we confirm with Freaky Steve!

My guess would be no.  If there was a candidate for syndication for a San Diego show it would be DSC.  Although there may be plenty of on the edge (and in some cases over the edge) shows for rock stations, there aren't so many for country.  Country needs a very local flavor to work well, and sending that stuff over satellite doesn't lend to local.  I think T&K or Cliff and Co. could do it, but the returns may not be there.

By the way, in my never humble at all opinion, the best person ever on the air from San Diego is Jim McInnes, but you couldn't syndicate him either, unless it was just a CC voice tracking thing where he might suck because he wouldn't have the local connection.  The man has always been the best.  It's too bad they don't put him on one of the satellite stations and let him have his way.  That would be well worth $15 or whatever it costs these days.

I was listening to Jim doing traffic on some station the other day - don't recall what station - but he was doing "personality" traffic and sounding damn good at it. This is yet one more reason why I no longer recommend people get into radio because when the Jim McInnes of the world have to do traffic to keep working, then what chance do the 90% of jocks with marginal talent have (well I guess you could buy something like KPRI and give yourself and fellow lightweights jobs.....)?

Jim McInnes would connect with a listener when reading a Betty Crocker cookbook.  He's the best I ever heard, and I was actually up against him in 1976 in afternoon drive.  I got killed, but not without cause.

JM is on Jack FM in the afternoons. I dont know how long he has been there, but he makes the traffic reports pretty damn entertaining. Someone really needs to hire and put him on for a proper shift again.

What is KSON waiting for? Bringing them back would end any chance for NEW COUNTRY to survive. What does NEW mean anyway besides NEW lows in ratings AND revenues?

I hate to see anyone fired these days, but this is perhaps thee most over-rated show I have ever heard.  If these guys spent half as much time prepping their show as trying to get pictures in the trades they might still have jobs.  Seriously BAD!!!!!
