A DJ at HOT 102.7 said this noon after 12:30 pm that there will be a major announcement this coming Friday morning at 7:30 am.

I hope that the announcement Friday morning at 7:30 am will not be that HOT 102.7 is about to flip formats, and that there will be no more HOT 102.7 here in Detroit.

Hot 102.7 do have low ratings. WJLB FM 98 is way ahead of them in ratings.

I love Hot 102.7 and I would hate to see them go.

Just this morning I woke up at 7:40 am and I went to HOT 102.7's website, and the anouncement was Hot 102.7 has a new morning show called THE RICKEY SMILEY MORNING SHOW which airs from Dallas, Texas.

With this new morning show on Hot 102.7, I believe Hot 102.7 will become a ratings success in Detroit, because I read on the stations website that Rickey's morning show has jokes and phone pranks that will make people laugh.

It's unknown how Rickey Smiley Moring Show will go up against the Steve Harvey Morning Show on MIX 92.3 WMXD FM.

They're both on in Atlanta. Steve Harvey's station wins, but not by much. I'm not sure how the morning dayparts look. But Russ Parr could not compete in this contest, whereas Rickey Smiley can.

NOT RELATED TO THE THREAD:

The notable things about Steve Harvey's success in Atlanta is that #1, it's on a small class A station best heard inside Atlanta's Perimeter region,   and #2, the irony of Harvey's show, syndicated by Premiere, being the centerpiece of Radio One's Atlanta success. (R1 and Harvey had a falling out, which ultimately lead him to leave his original L.A. based show.)
