I say bring back Sean King and the tv 20 dance party and the sleazy arms bar (late night with James Gabbert) does anyone know who owns it now? If you miss the "we got what your looking for...tv 20" jingle you can find it on you tube.

I totally agree on the Saturday Dance Party show.  I don't think there is any station in the nation that has such a program.  This would surely resurrect a unique
part of the past that we were all accustomed to.

That Dance Party show (hosted by Gabbert) was clearly oriented toward the 1950s, and all of the dancers were 50 something year old folks.  Would you re-brand it as a 60s Dance Party, or would you have the same people dancing with canes and wheelchairs?

If you think about it, that was in the late 80's so we should be thinking more in the lines of a 70's Dance party for today.

Until a Dance Party type show comes back in the Bay Area, you can entertain yourself with an original 70s dance party show - reelradio.com is streaming a number of 70s era Real Don Steele Shows from the old KHJ-TV, complete with original commercials.  It's a scream.  On one of the shows, the in-studio group (complete with huge bell bottoms, big hair and platform shoes) dances to Billy, Don't Be a Hero, not one of the more danceable tunes of the era.  And Don as usual, is entertainingly over the top.

A $12 membership fee is required, but worth it, in my opinion, if you enjoy old airchecks.

I am curious, Does anyone know how much involvement JAMES GABBERT have with the NEW KOFY-TV? Did GRANITE BROADCASTING simply hired him to do those HOURLY ID's or is he doing more? Has he been hired as a PAID CONSULTANT or P.D.? I wonder if Jim would be interested in returning to hosting like a NEW DANCE PARTY or a NEW SLEAZY ARMS ALL NIGHT MOVIES?

It is about time that the SAN FRANCISCO AREA gets a RETRO STYLE INDEPENDENT TV STATION! The L.A. area has KDOC-TV 56, but I think the best run INDEPENDENT of today has to be CHICAGO's THE U- WCIU TV 26. I am hoping KOFY will expand its Retro Programming. They already have PERRY MASON (Weekdays 8:AM and NOON), THE ADDAMS FAMILY (Weekdays 10:AM), THE MUNSTERS (Weekdays 10:30), STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO (Weekdays 11:AM) as well as the SUNDAY RETRO NIGHT. In addition to the old Classic TV Programming, Other suggestions include a DIALING FOR DOLLARS type of AFTERNOON MOVIE, THE SLEAZY ARMS BAR All Night Movies Show and DEFINATELY some sort of Saturday Night CREATURE FEATURES/HORROR MOVIE TV HOST type of show. They can either hire JOHN STANLEY to return (The name CREATURE FEATURES is in the Public Domain) to Host or they can pick up a Syndicated HORROR TV  MOVIE HOST SHOW like MR. LOBO'S CINEMA INSOMNIA (from SACRAMENTO and was recently cancelled by KTEH-54 San Jose) or ZOMBOO (from RENO) or even SON OF SVENGOOLIE (from CHICAGO). All of these shows are syndicated.

As long as they showed KOFY-DT San Francisco on the screen, they could do it.

- Trip

True.  It's been years since TV stations were required to actually announce call letters and city of license.  Most stations just run it at the bottom of the screen at the top of the hour.

I think TV20's just doing it for the nostalgia factor. You know - bringing back the dogs, Gabbert's voice-over, and even the KOFY call letters.  If they really wanted to play into that, they should bring back the old Gabbert-era ID jingles  - they were much catchier than the ones presently being used
The TV 20 station IDs 'jumped the shark' in the mid-late '80s, whenever they dropped 'We've got what you're looking for...TV 20' and replaced it with 'Welcome to your place...KOFY...TV 20'. I'd also like to hear the original jingle, or at least a 'cover version', on the air.
