WRIT in Milwaukee has been playing spots announcing that their all-Christmas format is coming "in November."  Ho-ho-ho.

"...in November"?  HAHA!!   WRIT has started all Christmas music at 3PM TODAY!!  10/31/08.

I would assume that WMYX was planning to go all-Christmas tomorrow 11/1, but WRIT wanted to get the jump on them.

dxer720 reports accurately that "WRIT has started all Christmas music at 3PM TODAY!!  10/31/08."

Yes, and it's just awful!  My wife loves Christmas music, but it just didn't sound right (rit?) to either of us on our way to a Halloween party!!  We need the Bobby "Boris" Pickett And The Crypt-Kickers on October 31, not Burl Ives warbling "have a holly jolly Christmas"!  What are these pinheads thinking??

There it is.    WRIT beats The Mix by an eyelash....or a piece of mistletoe......on Halloween.    Very scary.

WRONG! 1st all Christmas station this year was the former WMVN Movin' 101.1 in St. Louis, MO:

October 10th. Unfort. the format is gone from that station as it becomes ESPN Radio 101.1 next January.

WRONG!  The contest was for WI markets (as demonstrated by my listing the major markets in WI - and the fact that this forum is devoted to radio in WI).

I wonder if WMYX would have gone all Christmas this year if they would have known about the WKTI flip? They might have wanted to welcome displaced KTI listeners.

Oh well, they are actually better off being one of two christmas stations than being the only Hot AC. They will get a huge ratings spike like they do every year. Plus they avoid giving WRIT a Christmas gift of being the exclusive holiday station.

Meanwhile, down the road in Madison, WOLX starting Christmas music on Tuesday, 11/11...their earliest switch ever as "Madison's Home for the Holidays"
