After hearing that nugget dug out from the Goldmine, it makes me wonder if someone over at KAZG actually does read this thread!

...and they do!  That explains why Nurse Czarina Jeff and I never receive an Xmas card from Gumpdusky.  We are definitely not the ginchiest!

Now riddle us this, ASUJorgeUno: Was it Connie Stevens or that three foot deep reverb that made Edd "Kookie" Burns sing so well?

Definitely Connie Stevens. Put me on stage with her circa 1959 and even my voice would sound good!

I have to admit, though, that reverb is pretty gnarly. Sometimes I wonder if the reverb is from the actual song or a sign that the Lumberyard is about to implode!

Never happen...to quote The Commodores, she's a Brick House and the cats claw climbing all over it keeps the kilowatts a poppin' while Kookie is a rockin'.*

That comb is huge! What is that spray coming out from the Kookie Comb? Looks like water, but it could be some Rogaine for the aging Edd Byrnes! I think the Lumberyard should give some of those combs out to the loyal listeners along with the much anticipated bumper stickers at the next live remote broadcast at the ABCO Foods at McKellips and Scottsdale Roads.

As a side note, I was listening today waiting anxiously for the Goldmine to return after the ASU Women's Basketball game. At the end of the game, they went back to the Goldmine to play a few oldies and then right in the middle of the Dovells singing the "Bristol Stomp," the ASU women's basketball network coverage came back on so they could play a few more commercials. Then, they said, "Thanks for listening to the Sun Devil ISP Sports Network" and went back to the Goldmine, this time in the middle of a Beach Boys song. What in Great Caesar's Ghost was that all about? Did Lisa Love call up Gumpdusky in a rage and tell them to play all the required network commercials? Come on ASU! Let us listen to the DOS computer generated Goldmine oldies in peace. We only got to 5:31 P.M. as it is!

I'd like to propose two new threads specific to Kookie:

1. A thread for other Kookie sightings, like 10:25 PM Friday night, when CFZM, AM 740 on Toronto played "Lend Me Your Comb".

2. A thread like Off-The-Air, but from a "Kookie" perspective.

I was a bit taken off-balance when I watched the hot comb commercial. I remember it,  and was also tricked into trying to use a
"Hot Comb" (not the Kookie model) to try to control my mop of wavy hair. It was a losing battle, I tried for a few years..
 
Today I'm still using 50's style hair goop, and flop the waves straight up, like all the guys did then.

Guess that's what ya get for using a cheap knock-off    Check out the hot hairbrush again when there's that gawd-awful transition from the Sixties Kookie to the Mr Edd "Soap On A Rope" Byrnes.  He's laughing and probably in on the joke this product really was!

WARNING! Kookie is taking over the Lumberyard!

Yesterday, I heard the "Kookie Cha Cha Cha" on KAZG from 10:27 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. I was utterly surprised to hear that song. Then, what to my wondering eyes should appear, another Kookie song this morning in the 10:00 hour, this time at 10:18 A.M. Again, I didn't recognize it right away because I've never heard it before. Then, after hearing Kookie sing the alphabet, "A, you're adorable, B you're the best, G, you're the ginchiest," I knew what song it was. That's right ladies and gentlemen, it's " 'A' You're Adorable (The Alphabet Song)."

So can someone please tell me what's going on over at the Lumberyard this past week? Edd Byrnes must have stopped by the shack on the canal and uploaded the entire Kookie CD to the DOS powered computer so that now all his songs are in random rotation. To be honest, if it weren't for KAZG, I would never hear these songs. Not even satellite radio plays these "Kookie" songs!

KAZG now stands for "Kookie - Absolutely Zee Ginchiest!"

What in the Wide, Wide World of Sports is a goin' on at Lumberyard 14~Forty?  The Kookie kollection makes as much sense as Dumber and Dumbest doing their show from a Food City supermarket!  Ay, caramba!!
