There is a nearby suburban community college (Volunteer State C. C.) sometimes referred to as "Harvard on the Highway" or "U.S.C.--the Univesity of Sumner County". Campus has a nice little radio station WVCP.
Dyersburg (TN) State Community College was known as Harvard on the Highway as well. Another name for it was Redneck Tech.
University of Memphis - Tiger High (Referring to the football team in the past, but they've been better in recent years, even better than Tennessee this year.)
Memphis - Mempho or Memfus
Nashville - Nashvegas
Taco Bell -Taco Hell
Several places in TN with Union in the name referred to as Onion instead:
Union City - Onion City
Union University in Jackson - Onion University
Union Planters Bank (Now part of Regions) - Onion Planters Bank
Nashville State Community College (where I hope to be returning to school soon) as "the University of White Bridge Road." Grin

And the University of Tennessee at Martin, referred to as The University of Tennessee(at Martin)
