KBVO-CA goes to KNVA?
« on: December 02, 2008, 08:09:25 PM »

When did KBVO-CA switch to simulcast KNVA?  They were a spanish format.  What was the point in doing that?

Don't know...wonder if Univision's LMA with LIN to program TeleFutura on it ran out?  or LIN wants to use the signal to keep an analog version of KNVA around after the digital transition?  LPTVs aren't forced to cut over to digital in February, like the full-power stations are required to do.  ABC WJLA 7 Washington began leasing LPTV WWTD-LP 49 there to simulcast it in order to continue to provide an over-the-air analog signal once the analog 7 signal is cut to digital in February.

Maybe they was not getting the ratings?  They could only cover at best Austin.  I'm 30 miles away from Austin, got a pretty decent antenna, it pulls them in pretty well most of the time.

Think Telefutura will end up on the sub channel of KAKW once the transistion to digital TV happens since it was dropped from KBVO?

looking at the map coverage of univison's low power digital channel (ktfo-ca)  to 36, it would be about 40 miles around austin. ch 51 kbvo cover's 15-20 miles around austin.

Univision does Telefutura on a subchannel in San Antonio and other markets.
There's no need for Telefutura in HD since they don't program anything in HD.
Come to think of it Univision has yet to program anything in HD either.
Digital yes... HD no.

However, KBVO is supplanted by other LPTV repeaters throughout the market, left over from the old HPN days -- see:

Doesn't San Antonio have a stand-alone Telefutura station (KNIC ch.17, from Blanco)?

I just checked and Univision Austin has switched its LPTV on channel 31 to Telefutura and is also running Telefutura on 62-2.
