WTDA has announced their weekday line up.  Nothing for weekends yet.

6am– 10am - Mancow’s Morning Madhouse
10am– 1pm - The Dennis Miller Show
1pm– 3pm - The Dave Ramsey Show
3pm– 6pm - The Dan Patrick Show
6pm– 7pm - Shark On Sports
7pm– 10pm - The Michael Savage Show
10pm– 1am - The Jerry Doyle Show
1am– 4am - Phil Hendrie
4am– 6am - The Dave Ramsey Show

This Columbus Dispatch article makes this lineup official:

http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/life/stories/2008/12/23/2_BROBITS23.ART_ART_12-23-08_D5_G1CAJT4.html?type=rss&cat=&sid=101

And the new slogan is what?  Regressive Talk?

Unless I'm mistaken (I often am), it appears like Mark the Shark is the only local content they have.  Maybe the slogan could be, "Much Less Local Content than the other stations"  or "The Most Syndicated Content with less local filler".

Don't know who they think their target audience is, but it doesn't seem to be people who are interested in what is going on in the central Ohio area.  A local News program would be a nice plus, but most of these talk shows are just opinionated bla bla bla.  Uh, that was just my opinion by the way, yours may vary.  Wink

Maybe they are cutting back the "Mark the Shark show" on WTDA so he can concentrate doing morning over at sister WRQZ? There is certainly more at stake over there in the mornings. Besides, they don't want him to burn out, now do they?

What's next for WTDA??

Format change in a year or sold. Glenn Beck is what gave them the little ratings they did get. Poor signal and look what Hal is doing again.

NABCO has an opportunity to adjust their thought process to enhance their cluster but whether they see the thread or not remains to be unveiled and I'm not holding my breath. They've always had this thing for rock on the big stick so why aren't looking at something in that direction for the other two signals? It has to be something good and Ted and the Eagle don't count. Do some type of niche (Triple A, etc.) on 103.9 that will have synergy with the big one and then do another format (Sports, Heavy Metal, etc.) on the AM that will also add to the picture. The design is to look at one demo with all three signals and super serve those folks so it's a one stop for men/adults 18-54. I can't be easy selling rock on one station, bad talk on another and 55 to dead on the other one. I would have to believe that the Rock gets the buy and the other two are added value. Focus the core and let all three pull their weight which should make it easier to sell, even in a bad economy. Basic radio...don't try to be all things to everyone. What use to be for a station now applies to a cluster also. Figure out your passion and adjust the story for each frequency. Also do something that the acceptable and available listening audience will go to on each signal. They need to ask themselves that if the WTDA format went away would anybody miss it? If the WMNI format went away would anybody care? They have such an opportunity in this new world to do more with less but they have to take the chance. It will be the only way any of us make it through the decade.

Actually, I would miss WMNI if it dropped its current format, and I'm at least a decade away from the 55 - Dead category.   Wink   However, given that this is AM, and the signal gets weak at nites, its just not doing any justice for the quality of the music being played.  Given the lack of Hi-Fidelity, maybe WMNI should be the all talk station, or News Radio.

As for 103.9, the only thing that Ted... uh I mean WTDA has going for it is Shark.  I personally don't care for a talk format, however if they were to become a 24x7 News formatted station, I'd actually listen to that.  I used to listen to them when they were TED, and even as the Eagle.  I liked the variety they had on TED, but there just wasn't enough depth to it, and the lack of on-air personality was another bummer.  A niche like Tripple A actually might have some impact.

If no one from NABCO sees the messages being posted about them in this Forum, maybe someone could send them a postcard and invite them to see what is being said about them.  Tongue

Based on previous posts it appears at least one NABCO insider frequents this board.  No idea of position or influence.

I posted this previously as part of a larger thread prior to the events of the last week.  Not that I anticipate anyone from NABCO would take this seriously, but it appears there are a lot of unhappy talk radio fans of all sorts in Columbus this week.

1.  Stephanie Miller's online listenership has been so huge the WVKO website had to increase its bandwidth.
2.  Ed Schultz, who champions the working men and women who take a shower after they get off work, can transition his banter between politics and sports in the blink of an eye--thus making a perfect lead-in for Shark...a Shark from 3 to 6 p.m.
3.  It's been indicated by someone in the know on this board the high TSL associated with AM 1230 in its progressive talk days has moved on to WVKO.
4.  103.9 would be a logical choice for being the next home for high school sports, especially with a Shark lead-in.
5.  The station would have a ready-made audience despite the strength of the signal.

Should WTDA consider a format change with the Catholics taking over 1580?  Not necessarily, but the addition of the matron of fart jokes and a gun-toting, meat-eating liberal from the Heartland (and ex-football jock) would better fit the eclectic mix of talk than, say, a Michael Savage.

If I were Hal Fish, I'd have both Dial Global and Gary Richards on speed dial.

Merry Christmas.

Sean, I wonder if there would have been a greater chance of TDA picking up some of the shows you mention had VKO's conversion become apparent sooner?

From what I've heard regarding Hal Fish's political leanings, probably not.   Tongue

Now wait a minute! We all know how conservative CC is when it comes to their stations, yet for 2 years 1230 was a progressive talk station, along with your favorite station for awhile up in Akron in WVKO came along. If NABCO and Hal think they could make money off of Ed and Stephanie, they would do it. I don't see it happening since they just signed all the new contracts for Ramsey and Savage.

Today's Radio Info newsletter states that Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz did turn a profit this year.
