2 words about the Mountain:
"Not Impressed".
Gee, that tells a lot. Why don't you contribute to the conversaion a little bit more and explain your comment? Actually I am impressed with "The Mountain." The music has variety. I heard a great lost hit on "The Mountain" today from Rose Royce "I Wanna Get Next To You" which went Top 10 in 1977, yet is hardly ever heard on the radio today. I was very impressed that they played it. You think Scott Shannon will ever give that a spin on his network? No way. Sure, "The Mountain" could use some personalities, but look at the economy and how hard it is for small radio companies to make it these days. What complaints could you possibly have about "The Mountain"? Let's just say that I knew someone else who had an interest in that frequency who did not end up with it. This same person is a programming genius. In short summary, they were going to do all live programming with 4,000 plus songs in their play list. The Mountain is a joke compared to what type of programming that my associate was going to have on there. I've said it for a long time, the wrong people always end up with the radio stations.

Are you sure about that? A "programming genius" would never program a playlist of "4,000 plus." That would be suicide. The only people who would listen would be radio nuts like you and me, and that makes up a very low minority. Tell your friend to buy a LPFM. Then when he finds out a format of 4,000 songs isn't successful, he won't lose too much of his investment.

And you think playing the same 400 songs over and over again that everyone is sick and tired of hearing all the time makes a successful station? Seems to me if most of these same radio stations were successful they wouldn't be flipping formats every two to three years on an average. Facts are these same stations are losing ground and listeners to internet radio where most of these online stations provide a larger play list than FM Commercial radio. If it were me personally, I wouldn't care if the station was successful or not as long as I had fun with the it. That's all I care about is having a radio station where I play what I want and have fun. Screw the corporate mentality along with arbitron ratings, and the big bucks.

The Mountain sounds great. Wish the reception was better on the west side of Knoxville, but it's still decent. ET Radio needs to stream 105.5 and 106.3 online. Also wouldn't hurt if they bought up the useless translators at 107.3 or 92.3 and broadcast over them.

You should have heard the station, and the programming that was supposed to be on there. Too bad many listeners got deprived of it.

I'm done with this subject. I got sick at my stomach every time I see the Mountain even mentioned.
My partner and I will find another way to get our radio station.

If all you care about is playing your favorite tunes and don't care whether anyone listens (and BTW they won't), buy an AM. There are at least 8-10 for sale within 70 miles of Knoxville.

ANOTHER Mountain? For heaven's sake, there's already The Mountain in Chattanooga (96.5) that gets up to Knoxville.. There's The River in just about every radio DMA, The Mountain, The Rock, The Hog.. In TV, there's an Eyewitness News everywhere, there's a NewsChannel everywhere, there's a NewsCenter everywhere, a NewsWatch.. Anybody out there for originality?
Well they actually have the most appropriate tie in of all "Mountain" stations...bring right against the Smokies. I'm sure they considered other names but "The Park" doesn't quite get it....

This station may be rated at 500 watts but they are waaay over power. I can hear them in Pineville, KY. Even at that height they should NOT be penetrating this area. Sounds like a gentleman's call needs to be made.

106.3 "The Mountain" sounds better than WTFM. Now there's a loop if I ever heard one. Same songs over and over. Someone told me there was such a thing as the...."short playlist". Guess HV figured it out. Hey guys, Chicago and Air Supply made more than one song and Dido (I have another name for her) has'nt made an album in years and sucked anyway. I think the PD is tied up in the closet. Woof! Someone call a doctor for those people'. American Idol is over-please!
