I know a lot of people on this board discuss the problems of cable channels like TVLand, Weather Channel, MTV etc. but what is up with the History Channel? They seem to be airing more science and reality programs every day instead of history programs. I guess they can now go into that same catergory which TVLand, Weather Channel, A&E, AMC etc. are placed in with straying away from their originial intent.

History International seems to be still airing history programs though.

It just goes to show that networks can jump the shark just like programs do.  Angry

The once-great History Channel, I'm sorry, it's just History now, has transferred most of the actual history programming to its Military sister outlet.

Well who produces the history programs that they air?  They probably don't have enough to fill all their time slots.  At least they're not like the Smithsonian Channel that replays the same shows every day.

Self-produced. The History Channel (now just "History") produces 100% of the non-informercial broadcast day.

I love the History Channel when it run history programs. Or something like "Supervolcano" (about what lurks beneath Yellowstone.) This Nostradamus crap is getting old.....

Nostradamus was getting old when he was alive! If they had had television back then, he would have been one of those talk show guests that people would get sick of seeing. I can't believe that anyone takes that nonsense seriously.

Most of History's present programming is more fit for Discovery. The title Modern Marvels in itself is a contradiction to history. What's a show like that doing on History, anyway? It's not history!  Angry

Seems like the History channel would more appropriately be called the Speculation channel. Pathetic and boring. I'm about to block it on my TV just so I don't have to see their stupid show promos.
