I don't think WWE catchphrases are going to help you.  Now's a good time to get another career though, with radio joining newspapers' race to the bottom.

The  part-time openings are now filled with erstwhile full-timers.

Ummmm, not be a jerk, but have you not noticed all the "who got gassed" and "bloodbath" references across all the message boards, trade rags, and listservs?   Virtually every radio station, public or commercial, is laying people off left and right...they're not hiring anyone, and if they are, it's probably a recently downsized fulltimer with 20 years of experience.

Maybe you could be an unpaid volunteer at a college stations, that's about it.

I actually disagree with the others- I think there are openings out there for part-timers- you just have to be willing to work crap hours for crap pay for the love of the game.  Entercom was even running their own ad saying they were looking for part-time help.  I say especially if you can run a board - make some calls, you have nothing to lose

Don't practically all broadcasting companies say "no phone calls" for jobs nowadays?

They all appear to want applications only by email or snail-mail.

It's a practical necessity.  If you accept phone calls, you'll get deluged with hundreds, maybe THOUSANDS, of calls.  That's not an exaggeration.  Most radio outfits, even before this recession, would get hundreds of resumes e-mailed to them.

The phone call you make is to someone you're friendly with inside the station.  Cold calling isn't going to get you anywhere.
