The Shadow Lord Of NW Radio.......

If you've a bit of patience, an ATSC box that has a decent tuner (*cough*DTT901*cough*) and the conditions are good, you might also be able to pull in KGW on 8. You'd have to point your antenna toward Portland's west hills, but try it sometime......

Seriously, I know of NO decent ATSC box out there, Any recommendations? I have an Insignia NS-DXA1 at Best Buy and I STILL ended up paying $24.99 + tax (WITH coupon card) this time last year and this damn thing BARELY gets KCPQ-DT decently in most areas I travel in NW Washington (except for the San Juan Islands - now THERE'S the distant place to receive DTV from Seattle!) Mount Vernon is OK with KCPQ-DT (with some freezing when a jet flies by from whatever direction, used to be when a jet flew by from whatever direction, the signal came in CLEARER in analog) Everything else from Seattle was dead. Please don't EVEN get me started on BELLINGHAM. It's just the TWO Bellingham channels and CIVT out of Vancouver....that's ALL.

This is why I say to really make effective use of those extra DTV channels, OTA stations in distant areas up here need to run Seattle/Vancouver stations to fill in the gaps temporarily until local translators can move in. Could be a temporary cash thing for Bellingham/other area stations until they get their act together....unless they want Comcast or any of these satellite dishes to hinder that. It's up to everybody in that process.....

I won't be going out to the San Juans again until August....I'lll let you know of any new hope.....

Cheers!

And exactly why would a Seattle/Tacoma DMA station spend the hundreds of thousands of dollars to add DTV translators in Bellingham?

Or have we forgotten (yet again), Bong that Bellingham is outside of the Seattle/Tacoma DMA?  And since the Seattle/Tacoma TV stations don't sell advertising in Bellingham then too, what would be the benefit?

Plenty...multiply one eye X 2 to say....500,000

If I ran a Rite-Aid...or a 7-Eleven...I'd appreciate it.....

But neither Rite Aid nor 7-11 buys advertising for their stores located in Bellingham on Seattle-Tacoma TV or radio stations..hello!!  To use your example; when was the last time you saw an ad for 7-11 on any local TV station, the 80's?  You really don't get it do you?  Unbelievable...

Appreciation by a handful of people won't pay the bills every month.
