BA vs. CC HD2s.

Sorry if this has been brought up before.

Is the "Smooth Jazz" format heard on CC's HD2s the same as the Broadcast Architecture NAC format that runs on, say, WSJT Tampa (and other "non HD2" stations)??  They use the same jocks but I can't seem to tell whether or not it's the same exact format.

If it is dull,boring and lifeless ---- it is more then likey the BA product.

Yes! It's the same watered down BA horseshit.

That;s why I'm not buying into the HD2  b.s.

IMO wait for mobile internet streaming....it will be well worth it.

Yeah, but it seems like there are 2 separate feeds.

I had on the WJCD/Norfolk stream, and was listening to WMIA-FM (ex-WLVE) locally on HD-2, and it was Dave Koz on both.  Same voicetracks backselling the same song and teasing the same song, but the music in between was different.  And the songs and voicetracks run at different times.

A couple of ideas possible. One...it's the same stream but due to the lack of commericals on HD broadcasts (they can't sell them for the regular signals let alone for the alternative) you're getting to hear the music that BA puts under the spot breaks that covers those time periods when the station does not have inventory to put there. So in case there's nothing making money for you at that moment, music plays for three minutes, without any song ID until the jingle plays which would get you back from commericals if there were any. Not as confusing as it sounds. The other possibility is that they have created a separate stream for HD without the spot breaks but I can't imagine that BA would spend the time on something that would have no payback for them at all. Especially if they believe that the version they already have is ok for them, it must be ok for you too. Also, the station could be adding their own music and just using the songs that the BA air talent (oxymoron) backsell. That was an option given for all stations who wanted to customize their sound closer to their market and not buy into the water down version on the bird. I would believe it's the first one! Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Talked with someone who knows and found the answer. BA has developed a website (www.yoursmoothjazz.com) which is there for internet and HD signals. It has the same on-air people but from what I was told, the music is a bit looser. So you're close to the terrestrial product but really have something designed for no spot loads, among other things. I have not heard it yet so check it out and let's talk among us.
