My incomplete report on FM part 15

If you want to broadcast on FM (and remain legal) I recommend the EDM FM transmitter......................With the 100mW unit, and using the wire antenna included, if you install it untraditionally (that is, lay the damn thing on the ground!), you will have a complete stereo signal, strongly covering all the tough spots.EDM also offers a transmitter for a bit less money (these tx's come complete;  plug and play) which is completely legal.....and if it puts out a bit more range than you are comfy with, then, lower your wire antenna.You do not need to purchase (and you shouldn't look to do so) an antenna to use this tx......if you would need anything at all, I would look to purchase a processor unless you are excellent at running your board, or your automation takes care of levels.The EDM is a very powerful, but small unit which will make your station sound full.  As with all part 15's, you need to insure you pick a good, clear frequency and there is a good reason why everyone is still yelling about three channels out clear even on FM.If ya want to go AM, contact me...and if ya want to go FM, or both, contact EDM and I can pretty much guarantee that you will be happy with the results and the money you still have in your pocket.Carl

How does this compare against the Ramsey 100B?
Sound quality wise etc.

they're garbage. mine blew up within a week. they don't offer exchanges or refunds on defective products. when they are working they sound great. but for $120.00 i'll go get a FM25b.

between ramsey or EDM? go ramsey. better customer support.

Really? I read on this forum that service support is very good.

I stand corrected

it took 2 days but they just contacted me tonight and offered a refund or replacement. apparently earthlink has been blocking their emails to me and i assumed since it had been two days they where just ignoring me.

OK! Robert so then can you report your views on sound quality when compared between the EDM and 100B? I am assuming you used a 100B before. Quality is more important for me than range. Thanks

quality is the same as the FM100b as it uses the same BH1415f Stereo chip. uses the same basic design as the 25b and uses a custom silicon for a PLL. Range on the 100mw unit is about 1500ft to a Walkman using the Tx at ground level indoors. it's a decent plug n' play unit if you aren't handy with a iron. Stability and harmonics are excellent.

I just received a auto reply email (lengthy one) from the EDM server. In contains a list of their FAQ's in a data base. Here is what they say about warrantee. Looks good! There's lots of other interesting facts as well


"we guarantee our products for 2 years from date of sale.(Damage by lightning, static electricity, water, neglect, incorrect assembly and other abuse, physical or non-physical will be excluded from this guarantee). Products outside this period will be repaired at a flat rate of 25% of the original purchase price provided the product is still repairable(not butchered,
 modified or tampered with). You pay shipping both ways."

Anyone know how long is Ramsey's warrantee?

Where can I find more detailed published technical specs on the Ramsey stuff?
Searched their homepage but found nothing. I want to compare apples with apples.
