I have decided to make a slight change to the country format on WJJD, effective this coming Monday, June 8.

There will be more emphasis on positive country songs, plus the addition of some light contemporary Christian music. "Radio for Faith, Family and Country" is a hybrid country/Christian format, somewhat like the old "The Walk" in Greenville, S.C., but with a heavier emphasis on the country side.

Part of the reason is the fact that there are a lot of good, positive country songs coming out, but there are a lot with four-letter words, etc. in them. As my grandsons, ages 10, 5 and 4 are around the station, I'm
weary of having to turn the sound down all the time due to some of the language in the newer songs. Plus,
having stayed with the almost-all-classic-country since 2003 I'm ready to freshen things up just a bit.

WJJD is a Part 15 AM and streaming station. I've been streaming since July 2001 and on AM since July 2003.

The website is being updated with new information and our playlist at http://www.wjjd1160country.com.

WJJD was able to acquire music libraries from 3 area commercial radio stations and I am grateful to those who have helped make this transition possible.

Alan, while I'm not a big country fan I wasn't aware of the language in country music. Are the song you reference also played on commercial broadcasters? I would have never thought that would be the case, but I suppose if rap and some rock music can have "colorful" language then I guess it could happen in the country format as well.

Bill,

It's not as prevalent..but it's starting to creep in just a bit. And, yes, these songs are played on
commercial radio.

On the other hand, there is a lot of great music by mainstream artists, some of which is being played,
such as "Shine" by Jo Dee Messina or "It's America" by Rodney Adkins.

There is positive country music?
Cool that youve decided to freshen up the
sound of WJJD. Over here i decided to go older in the
songs because of the reason you just stated. Those pesky
4 letter words.

Best of Luck to you!
