975 WILI translator sold to Red Wolf.

The 97.5 WILI-FM translator (W248AB) has been sold from the current licensee (Mountaintop Wireless, the owners of the tower where it is located), to Red Wolf Broadcasting. It was sold for $100,000 as listed in the public filing.

What will Red Wolf do with it?  Throw an HD2 on WMRQ and put it on there? Use it in a dead spot of WMRQ?
Hop it down to the New London area?

Interesting possibility since 104.1 is a little weak in New London County. But, wouldn't a 97.5 translator conflict with WALK just across the sound?

The translator wouldn't have to stay on 97.5 if they were to move it to the New London area, or anywhere else for that matter.

Wouldn't be allowed.
It would extend beyond the protected contours of the two stations.
They would have to relocate it closer to New London.

A Friend on mine works at Hall Communication and said that John Fuller was at Hall Comminications WCTY tower site two days ago and he had a complete inventory list of equipment, is he buying this station too?  I would hate to see Hall leave Eastern CT, they have done a great job.  I saw a listing on line on radio and records before it closed it's interenet doors....that Fuller is looking to pick up more stations....He owns some 37 radio cell towers throughout  the North East..  Time will tell??

someone Tell john to get a cell tower on a telephone pole here in old greenwich  . nothing but dropped calls here. My phone has trouble keeping a lock on a tower in CT and likes to jump to a tower in oyster bay NY.

But if the translator isn't owned by the originating station, can they extend it beyond the protected contour?
They could pick up a New London, Hartford, or even Boston station over the air at the 97.5 translator site. I thought the only requirement is to pick up the station over the air.
This translator nearly doubles i98.3's coverage area, they'll lost a lot of listeners if they lose the 97.5 translator.

If the translator isn't owned by the originating station, it's contour extension can extend beyond the protected contour.

We could not purchase the translator because our 60 dbu contour on our main transmitter, on Gates Hill in Lebanon, extended over the Bolton Notch translator site. Per the FCC's current - key word current - rules, an originating station cannot own a translator that is within the originating station's 60 dbu contour UNLESS the entire 60 dbu contour of said translator is entirely within the 60 dbu contour of the originating station. That is not the case - and as you can see, I did extensive research on the subject.

We have built a substantial following through the 97.5 translator, which does have a great coverage area, getting many listener compliments on what it's like to hear a tight, real, balanced CHR with live and local DJs, giveaways, that plays "all the hits", etc. This was evidenced by our recent showing in the 12+ Hartford Arbitrons. However, we are very confident in the strong and growing base of listeners who listen via our 98.3 main signal, and look forward to continue serving them in the same manner.

Hopefully down the line there will be a way for those listeners to again hear us over the air; like all Connecticut Class A's we get killed on terrain. In the mean time, hopefully some of said listeners will migrate to the internet and stream us live at hitmusici983.com.

Additionally, I just read the filing and it states the "Rx" station as 104.1.
