Seems like a fairly effective method of allowing the listener to feel as though they are part of the station and make it feel interactive.  This is no different than an "All Request Lunch Hour" where no songs are actual requests.  Or the vote for your 500 favorite songs and we'll play them back this weekend, stuff...  all pre-selected.

Not a bad ploy to market some new, fresh music, although I don't see the station really taking too much input from listeners.

You mean the All Request Nooner on KOOL was...fake? Shocked

But Peaker used to play back phoners of actual listeners requesting songs that
he would then play!

Songs like...
Happy Together
My Girl
My Guy
Unchained Melody
Oh, Pretty Woman
California Dreaming
I'm A Believer
Brown Eyed Girl (couldn't forget that one Grin)

Ohhhhhh...you mean those songs were going to be played anyway?
And all this time I thought......oh, now I feel so unclean! Wink

Stunting has began on the Edge! Looks like this has been going on since 9am this morning. They have this continuous light music playing as if you were on hold on the phone. Then every now and then you hear an operator type girl's voice saying "Welcome To The 103.9 Help Line, We Are Currently Working To Build You A Better Radio Station. Your current wait time is approximately...and then they say how many minutes until noon when it looks like the station will re-launch. We'll all find out at noon!

So far so good, i like the less hype presentation. Have heard alot of songs I haven't heard in years. They only have to get rid of that crappy l.a. morning show now. I be happy with Robin Nash in mornings and some great music intensive show.

Definately liking the more musical direction they are taking. Since noon I am pretty sure they have been rolling commerical free as well. They are going to focus on more music, and less commercials. If this is the case, Kevin and Bean may not be around as much because their morning show certainly does not fit a music intensive direction. KEDJ has also branded themselves a little differently by referring to themselves now as FM 103.9 Edge Radio. Your Music, Your Station. They are focusing on a deeper playlist, with less repetition. So far so good!

The design on the websight is similar to what indie 1031 is.

Great point old wise one.  Make sure you give Marc a call.  I know you have his number.

When I took the survey I realized that I only listened to the Edge less than an hour a day. With the changes I'd gladly leave it on all day...but will they last (flashback to '04)?
