Stockton Record Columnist MICHAEL FITZGERALD wrote a very good column about the Lack of New Music Stations in Stockton, The format change of KWOD-106.5, the loss of B-93.1 and being replaced by a Classic Hits Station and talks of how desirable, the older demographics are instead of the younger demographics when it comes to advertisers. This whole article seems to contradict everything written on this board. Read it and let me know your thoughts? Especially David Eduardo!
http://www.recordnet.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090717/A_NEWS0803/907170312 Though KWIN is mentioned, Surprisingly KHOP-95.1 isn't even though that station booms into Stockton. Michael also mentions the change of KWOD and the loss of B93.1 but doesn't mention that Two B-93.1 Sacramento Clones (KGBY-My 92.5 & KZZO-100.5 The Zone) can be heard in Stockton. And he mentions OLDIES? Let's see, The New Classic 93.1 plays 70's & 80's, and both 104.1 The Hawk & 96.9 The Eagle play Classic Rock but neither of these stations qualify as True Oldies Stations. KCCL-92.1 comes close. Even KSTN-1420 doesn't play True Oldies, mostly 70's & 80's like Classic 93.1. KQOD-Mega 100 plays some Classic R&B Hits but again from the 60's forward. No Doo Wops by Buddy Holly or Richie Valens.
