This morning on my way to work around 5:30AM pirate radio (kkxx) was off the air and in its place was a construction site loop with some announcer guy saying they are under construction and would be back soon.

Anybody know what the new format will be? Please oh please let it be another country or classic rock/adult rock station...  Angry

Its going to be Top 40 or Rhythmic AC. No Spanish, No HipHop, and Definitely No Country.

Just heard from an American General Media employee that the new format for 93.1 is going to be Top 40. We will see soon if this true or false.

According to another website, at 4PM PDT, 93.1 became “Hot Hits 93.1,” a flanker to “Hot” KISV (94.1.)  Question from someone out of state:  Musically, what’s the difference between 94.1 and the new 93.1?  Is 94.1 all HipHop?

They could do like KWYE Y-101 in Fresno and go after KLLY ,play artist like Lady GaGa and Kelly clarkson, or go straight Top 40 like AMP RADIO 97.1 in LA.

Hot Hits 93.1...was listening to it this morning on the way to work (5:30am). Sounds like an urban top 40 format. so far all I heard sweeper wise was hot hits and today's hot hits and 93.1...no mention of KKXX that I heard of. They should use the call letters. Good or bad those call letters are as well known in Bakersfield as The black and white building where niles and montery intersect sect sect. haha.

And yeah I wish they could go back and do Real Rock the right way. Given the chance (back then) I could have programed a rock station in Bakersfield that would kick a$$ and get ratings. I know the format/market and could put together cheap affordable promotions to make the station fun.
