KRLD Using Illegal ID?

KRLD 1080/105.3 HD2 has been IDing itself as "KRLD AM and HD Dallas/Ft. Worth and KRLD-FM HD2 Dallas/Fort Worth"

As I understand the rule, isn't the legal call sign (although a mouthfull):

"KRLD Dallas, KRLD-HD1 Dallas, KRLD-FM HD2 Dallas/Fort Worth"

Technically, illegal.  But for years, simulcasting AM/FM combos would ID as something like "WRR AM and FM, Dallas".  Nobody ever got sanctioned.  It meets the intent of the rules if not the letter, and I don't think the station has anything to worry about.

The ID is legal. AM cannot have more than 1 HD channel (read no "hidden stations") so the ID is correct. There is always just one HD on AM.

In an AM/FM simulcast it is perfectly acceptable to say KRLD AM/FM Dallas, for example.
Saying KRLD AM/HD Dallas would fall under said same.

Some have always wondered why in the day, KVIL ID'd differently than most.
Originally when the city of license was Highland Park for the AM and the city of license for the FM was Highland  Park, Dallas...they ID'd as "KVIL FM and AM Highland Park Dallas.  The FCC did not stipulate which you had to say first, AM or FM.  Ron chose to accentuate the FM in that small manner.
Later they added Fort Worth to the city of license to the FM so the ID became "KVIL Highland Park (for the AM), KVIL FM Highland Park, Dallas, Fort Worth (for the FM)."

Interestingly, does anyone else remember the violation KLIF committed in the 70's when their ID consisted of their top of the hour news intro?  It was a big boom sound, followed by "From Dallas, KLIF News Is Now!".
Technically illegal because the rule at the time was call letters followed by COL.  They kept the intro, but had the newsman come on with something like, "....this is news from KLIF Dallas, I'm ****."  and at one time they would read the top story headline and say, "..93 degrees at KLIF, Dallas...."

I suspect a lot of the reason is because a substantial portion of the 25-54 audience won't listen to AM no matter what.

Some might also say it's because AM HD doesn't work at all...

Begging to differ on its acceptability, since as stated above, it's not technically
correct--but also as noted, Uncle Charlie probably won't be coming after KRLD
for their indiscretion.  What do you expect from a bunch of doofus bureaucrats
who can't see the forest for the trees?  Or in radio's case, the I-CRAP polluting
the adjacent frequencies.

To be really "ID anal" about it (and I am ), for starters "AM" is not part of an
AM station's callsign, also each station in a simulcast should be IDed separately
(calls and COL):

"KRLD Dallas, KRLD HD Dallas, KRLD-FM HD2 Dallas"

As previously mentioned, there are no multiple HD channels on AM for those who
choose to "pollute by I-CRAP," so it's just "HD" not "HD1."

With each COL mention you can also tack on any other place(s) desired, as long
as the COL is first, and Metroplex courtesy would want "Dallas/Fort Worth" to be
enunciated to avoid things like range wars, checkpoints on the Bob Crandall Toll
Road through DFW, and late-night visits from the ghost of Amon Carter.

"KRLD Dallas/Fort Worth, KRLD HD Dallas/Fort Worth, KRLD-FM HD2 Dallas/Fort Worth"
would be totally legal--as well as appeasing to both the I-35E and I-35W camps--
assuming these are the three broadcast channels simulcasting the 1080 programming.

All in all, I feel a "Fybush moment" coming on...

Why are they using their FM HD2 channel if they're also on AM HD? 

I think part of the reason is where i live (south east ft worth) i cant ever get the 1080 hd signal
