unless they change the recurrents to Currents rotation to how a CHR should go. they may take a a couple tenths off of NOU and maybe some off of ZPL. but not enough to help JJK into the top 5. And i don't think Radio one would be Stupid enough to canibalize their Cash cow in HHH to much.

.....It's kinda' like adding an additional middle lane to the I-465 loop..... Play it right between Churban-NOW and Hot-AC/Adult-CHR 'ZPL and see if either of those do what the first place driver did on the last lap at Daytona this past weekend!  Try to position the middle car from taking the lead and helping the team mate on the inside.....OOOOSPIE!  Leave the payment airborne and get knocked out.... Which of the three will it be???  I think 'ZPL has played long enough to protect it's demographic and sales niche.... "Now" has a load more at risk... With "HHH" so embedded into the urban/dance audience, if "I-94" plays 50% mixed currents, 40% recurrents and 10% CHR gold... They should be the compromise in the 'eclectic' auto and have a strong cume.... Make the mark in the middle...  "I'm looking at the man in the middle"Huh?  Thanks, MJ!   Roll Eyes

But really, Cumulus needs to put a format on this stick and let it sit there for 3-5 years before blowing it up.  Building a successful station isn't as simple as flipping a switch.

Of all the posts I've seen this seems to carry the most weight.  Yes WNOU became rythmic the minute Ligins and his Momma picked up the station. They routinely compete with Cumulus for the most accidents in a one car funeral.

93.9 has no permanent format. But look at Jack....or WJJK no Jack.

WNAP died a horrible death because they spent time protecting WIBC and changing formats once a year.  Not the "heritage rocker" some would like to recall.  It was AC, rock, and many variations.

And Casey's Question of the day:  "What is the longest any format has been on the 93.9 frequency?"

Carl seems to know the H format and the WNOU format though. HMM Let's see.

WXTZ was on 93.9 from sign on in 1992 till september of 1969 when the then WTLC owners bought it for its Jammin Oldies satellite format which didnt last but 6 months when they didnt take full control sending the station back to Mary Weiss who then 6 months later sold it to Susquehanna and the Bear was on 93.9 from May of 1997 till November of 2001. which i believe make WXTZ and the Bear with about 4 and half years each the longest runners of a format on the station. Retro was on for almost 2 and half along with the Song.

skipperthomas probably said it best.

Entercom has the least to lose here.  WZPL is a format staple and does well in the money demos which is what really matters anyway.  Entercom bought those stations for a pretty penny because they actually make money!

Radio Now has a little heritage, but not a ton.  I like Rayne, he is a good guy and understands the whole CHR image/audience.  However Alfred, how can you really think he understands CHR?  The suburban audience scares the hell out of the man.

I94's whole purpose is to be there and help push WJJK into the top 5.  Cumulus realizes that whatever they do with 93.9 wont ever be too beneficial to itself, instead its leverage.

The song IMHO was a great station and did really well.  I think I94 will do okay, not great, but okay.  Alfred will try to really win over the younger audience with Now.  Think, he is going to play more currents, more often and a lot of the new Rhythmic Urban crossover.  HHH will remain Urban, but try to protect itself by being "more urban" and help sister WNOU.

This will cause WZPL to really dominate 25-54 and allow I94 to wedge in 25-34 and force WNOU into 18-34

You're assuming Alfred Liggins cares about how many currents his stations are playing. With S&P downgrading it's rating of Radio One stock, he has more pressing issues to deal with.

Listened this morning, coming into Indy to referee a summer AAU basketball tourney in Fishers..... Sounded solid and not leaning urban or rock/alt in the CHR term.... Real hot Chr....  Better than I expected.....

What's sad is that they let go of one of the most gifted CHR minds in the market when they cut Fritz Moser loose. I'm tired of being "nice". Cumulus could f*** up a wet dream and a one car parade....on the same day!

That's just funny. I mean, really? He has absolutely NO successes in programming a CHR (or anything else) in a market larger than Muncie. And his 80s station was a joke. Hair bands and more hair bands.

Fritz is a nice guy, and in a lot of cases "gets it." But on the air: bad. Programming in Indy: Not good. If he was the best they had, they are in trouble.

Though I must say, I'd take Fritz any day over Carl Frye.
