How would you know they don't? They are employees of CBS! The person I spoke to was employed at 97.1 FM Talk as well, and gave me a lot of useful info.
Because I've been in that position. I used to work the phones and promotions at the old Cool 94.3. I heard about the sale to Liberman through rumors going around in the station, not the suits. I was scared about my job until one day, we all had a meeting that the station was going to be sold and become a part of the Que Buena network and that everyone would be fired. Luckily, I was still in college so it didn't affect me as much as other people. There was nothing we could do though, we knew nothing about what had happened and if there was a chance Cool would come back.

A station sale tends to generate advance knowledge due to due diligence visits by potential buyers, etc. But in-house, same owner format changes are seldom known about in advance.

Sales, by virtue of the fact that they require FCC approval, of necessity are announced well in advance of the closing.

And small stations that are locally owend tend to be a lot more transparent, as the every action of the owner of the station.

And, if I recall, the owner was one Art Astor...

I worked all the graveyard shifts, it was quite and interesting. I never actually got to meet the famed Art Astor but I was curious why I had never received a notice or something...

It's a no-brainer that Tom Leykis ends up on KFWB. He is still employed by CBS Radio and would bring instant credibility to the station with an established L.A. based afternoon-drive talk show. His show would combine elements of both his KFI and KLSX days. We're not going to get RACK signings on KFWB.  Smiley

Okay, let's just give that man the credit where it is due. I mean he was dead on about CBS bringing some sort of talk format "back." Yeah. it is not the talk I was hoping for, but, "a move like that" was made, and it is "before summer is over."
