I have no issues picking up 104.3.

Not only do I have trouble picking up 104.3 in my cars in the NW metro, but it has been in mono for well over a month.  A weak mono FM Oldies station?  Saga might as well have kept WVKO and put the Oldies format on it.

No doubt they turned off the stereo signal and went to the mono mode out of desperation. By going to mono, they can increase the signal range of 104.3, which is about the weakest signal rimshot in the Columbus area.

The signal seems to be worse over the past several months.  I noticed it around July or so.  There are many places where it used to be better, but now it's very weak.  I wondered if maybe they took a lightning strike, which could also explain being in mono, but that shouldn't continue for months unless they just don't care.

If indeed "they just don't care," it would be nice if this reflected plans to lease or buy the highly-viable 102.5 signal  to "rescue" WODB (hopefully with the return of full-time local operation instead of just mornings).  Alas, I kinda doubt that's what's going on...

It's possible they have some technical problems at the 104.3 xmtr site, but they won't spend another cent there because of the pending move to West Jefferson, but that begs the question of just how many more months away are they from making that move?

As for buying 102.5, Saga will have a much better signal for 104.3 after the move, and probably as good as what 102.5 can offer.

The thread "WHIZ-WCVO" (http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,111661.0.html)  had the following post from gabigley suggesting the 104.3 move to West Jefferson was essentially dead.  I think at least one other person had mentioned the same thing.  Was this incorrect, or has something changed?  Hope so.

Dont forget 104.3 WJZK Moving to West Jefferson

That can't happen now because WCVO-FM has a new CP to move to a new tower site. The new tower site for WCVO won't allow 104.3 to move to
it's planed tower site. It's looks like WCVO broke it's agreement with Saga's 104.3. Here is more info on the WCVO application to move it's tower site:
https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/cdbs/forms/prod/getattachment_exh.cgi?exhibit_id=753853&formid=301&q_num=5260 where it mentions it no longer has
a agreement with 104.3. So, what will become of 104.3? Will Saga file to move it to even a different location or will it stay right where it is?

Considering how many unsuccessful attempts WCVO has made to find a new site, don't count on anything definite happening there for a while.  If the WODB move looks doomed, Saga would be better off to buy 102.5.  Then maybe they would market 104.3 as a Marion signal in conjunction with 92.7 once it has moved there.

Looks like WCVO has finally settled on a site (looks to be a cell phone/comm tower off N Hamilton Rd.

Looks like the CP has been approved (5/09) so all they got to do is 'bulid out' now.

...So that's the nail in the coffin for 104.3's move  Angry

Too bad CVO wasn't able to make the originally-proposed move.  Would've worked out well for all.  Now I'm back to wondering if Saga may indeed have its eye on 102.5?  If a deal with Saga is a possibility, that could be another reason for 102.5's steering clear of AC for now.  It pains me to say it, but country may temporarily make some sense for 102.5 if Saga and Wilks are two of the possible suitors.
