Here is a gem for everyone.  El Rushbo doing a morning show in Pittsburgh.  Actually sounds pretty good.

Interssting that that would surface, and the quality sounds good. There is one from his larger Pittsburgh station on Reelradio.

Great  Smiley  I love hearing famous people before they were famous.  Rush did a good job, especially for a 21 year old guy.

If he only worked at two stations in Pburg, that's a maximum of being canned twice unless he was fired and rehired several times at those stations.

WIXZ/1360 was a carbon copy of Cleveland Top 40 giant WIXY/1260. They shared a fair amount of material between the stations, from jingles to logos to even deejays. It might have very well been the first attempt made to franchise a format under a "name" brand, if one doesn't take RKO-based Drake-Chenualt or the ABC Radio top 40 formats into account.

The Harlem Globetrotters (no kidding) bought WIXY and WIXZ in 1972... which through a series of mergers and buyouts ultimately became Gannett.
