It's up around 7 kW. It's still out on FM 2767. I believe it's on an LMA from Jerry, but I'm not completely sure.
Thought so, it's just too strong here in Kilgore. And I'm sure Russell's still controlling it. 1) Sounds like a loop of songs with infrequent ID's. 2) They are leaving the transmitter on at night.. here we go again.

Update:
1) I'm hearing more ID's now - a simple KOFY Gilmer
2) The STL or Xmitter has a bad audio problem.. audio goes from clean to super distorted.
3) They're still not shutting off the xmitter at night....dum de dum dumb. Nobody's minding the store...

Things like this, that is, a station like KOFY rising from the dead with no apparent authorization, just don't make sense at all. Also consider the fact that the FCC doesn't treat situations like this in the same way. For instance, I noticed that an application for a new AM station in Bay City, Texas was denied because the applicant's letter requesting reconsideration was received one week late. He claimed he wasn't notified by letter and that's why he didn't make the deadline for a reply; the FCC said that the public notice which described the denial was sufficient. The Bay City application would have allowed the 1270 frequency to be re-activated with the same sort of facilities as the original occupant, KIOX, with 1000 watts day and night.
In the case of KOFY, they are ID'ing it, but the call letters don't exist. They were deleted by the FCC when the license was canceled. The station therefore is officially referred to as "DKOFY" in all of the FCC information. Being on the air at all is illegal, of course, and leaving the carrier on at night is an invitation for a formal complaint from co-channel WLNO New Orleans. Meanwhile, down on 690, KZEY hasn't been on the air in about four years and has no studio and no towers, yet it's still listed by the FCC as "licensed." Like DKOFY, it doesn't appear on the official "silent stations" list.
It doesn't really matter to me whether or not the station in Bay City actually got on the air, but it really bothers when regulations aren't applied evenly and someone like Jerry Russell can do as he pleases with his stations, FCC rules be damned.

I agree, this situation doesn't make any sense to me at all either, or there is FCC authorization that hasn't been listed online yet.
KOFY was playing music until 9 pm.. and I remember the old KHYM signoff used to be during August around 7:30-45 pm.
I'm surprised "Uncle Charlie" hasn't paid a visit to KOFY, but who knows where their main studios are? It's just a bizarre situation. I'll keep listening and see if any other info pops up. I've heard a few brokered commercials (for band-aids) and a Tyler church broadcast promo.

Here's a story about KOFY in the Ebony News Journal (scroll down the page). I don't know how long it will be online, so I decided to copy/paste it here. http://www.theebonynewsjournal.com/LocalEastTexas.htmlEast Texas Has a New Radio Station TYLER—So many people depend on coffee to start their day, coffee to refresh them in the middle of the day and coffee with dessert at the end of the day. East Texans can continue to enjoy “KOFY” all day long.
It’s a new radio station in the East Texas area. KOFY/1060 AM is a 10,000 kilowatt radio station designed with the community in mind. Known as “East Texas’ Best in Gospel and Blues,” the station features gospel music, religious programming, blues and jazz. News, weather and sports are also a part of the lineup.
Longtime radio personality, Henry Dunn serves as general manager and program director for the new station. Dunn has over 20 years experience in the business and brings with him a passion for the industry.
Gabriella Mass-Davis is KOFY’s community affairs director. With her experience of over ten years, she will be the liaison between the community and the station.
“East Texas needed a strong gospel station and KOFY meets that need,” said Gabriella. “KOFY is not a Tyler station but an East Texas station.”
The Community Calendar, one of the many programs designed to keep the community informed by the station, will announce events for churches and non-profit organizations. Those announcements must be submitted 3 - 6 weeks prior to the event to: KOFY Community Calendar, P.O. Box 4942, Tyler, TX 75712.
The KOFY schedule consists of Monday—Saturday, 6:00 am - 3:00 pm, Gospel; 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Blues. Sundays, 6:00 am - 3:00 pm, Gospel; 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Jazz with host Larry Allen.
A “Welcome to East Texas Gospel Concert” is being planned for early October in Longview. The event will also commemorate the Grand Opening of KOFY.
Anyone interested in advertising a business, sponsoring a segment or airing a church program or ministry should contact Gabriella Davis at 903-592-5111 or 903-520-7583.

So, basically, whoever now has taken this station over has assembled an allstar cast of Jerry Russell casualties and is basically recreating the old KZEY format. Good!

I wish them the best of luck. I just hope Russell doesn't screw these people over again with the licence situation. They have been on the air for over a month now so I guess they're OK with the FCC. They've got most of the engineering bugs worked out and the processing sounds good. I heard a very long community calendar this morning so there are people listening. If the transfer of KEES ever goes through and Salt of the Earth takes over, there will be 4 black gospel stations in East Texas.

KDOK has been off the air since the rains last week. Does anyone in Tyler know? KEES is off/on with super-low audio, mostly simulcasting KTBB (with no dual station ID) and a very very weak signal. KRFO-AM's audio is super tinny with low modulation, probably 70-80%. I remember when KFRO was running AM stereo and sounding great. And even the FCC doesn't give a crap about AM radio in East Texas if they're not coming out to shut down KOFY.
