Funny cause I had a dream a few nights ago that 106.7 FM format was changed back to classic rock. I guess I got psychic powers.

I turned on 106.7 FM this morning twice and I heard music that did not sound like country.

Country music is not my favorite I like Top 40 and hip-hop radio.

Yep those "psychic powers" look a little off, since classic rock isn't what they flipped to.

You didn't hear any country music because, well....they stopped playing country when they flipped formats. Things usually happen that way. Weird.

Never could have figured out you are a hip-hop fan after reading past posts of yours.  I like the new format.  Nice little twist in the market.  Might be the best move CC has made with that station since killing W4.  It'll be interesting to see how it's recieved.

As for the country leader in the Detroit, 99.5 WYCD. I expect that it will be the number one station overall in the market.  That is as long as no other station flips to country.

And that's a great idea for another thread: Who will flip to country, and try for a piece of the pie?  Could it be Magic?

Flipping to country isn't worth it.  History has proven that.  Go back several years to the day W4 left 106.7.  Everyone thought for sure that WYCD would shoot from that upper 3 to like a 6 maybe 7 share since they were going to get all of W4 listeners.  Problem with that was, WYCD had all those listeners, already.  Just for longer times listening.  End result?  WYCD went from upper 3's to upper 4's.

The return of Country failed on 106.7 because all it was, was a second choice to WYCD.  It never was a first choice for anyone.  The Fox might have had a 2 something, but that doesn't mean that WYCD will gain two shares and gather a 6 or 7 share.  It means WYCD's TSL will go up some.  MAYBE gather a half a share.

It's just not worth flipping another signal to Country.

Sounds great! Went from "Burning Up" by Madonna to "Kanye's "Heartless" into "Make You Sweat" (La La La La Long) Inner Circle. Good to hear stuff like that resurrected.

Well, at least they were honest.

I've also noticed that ever since WDTW's flip to Rhythmic Hot AC that WKQI have started to fine tune their Top 40/CHR direction and has begun to move away from its Rhythmic lean.

This station did not do well in the September 2009 PPM ratings for Detroit.
