KNEW announced this morning that they were dropping Michael Savage, and replacing him with John & Ken from KFI. John & Ken were originally on in Sacramento. An interesting move. Smart move, or suicide?

The vast majority of replies on the Talk 910 blog votes "suicide."

My concern is the 3-7 slot now has a so-close-and-yet-so-far A&G clone.  As much as I love A&G, I'm not sure I can take 4 more daily hours of a variation on a theme.  Savage was a distinct break.  (Maybe he'll write a book called _Banned in San Francisco_.)

Meanwhile, if you want to read the reactions including mostly opposition, see http://talk910.com/pages/blog.html?feed=330296&article=5988487

You can bet he's already left several messages and sent several emails to Luckoff, trying to get on KSFO.

I knew something is up with Clear Channel. First Clear Channel removes Smooth Jazz from KKSF now Clear Channel Removes Savage from KNEW. Wow now Clear Channel Has pissed of 2 sets of fans in San Francisco the Smooth Jazz fans and Mike Savage Fans. Many people here in San Francisco thinks that Sarah Palin is trying to get a Talk Radio show on KNEW and KKSF here in the Bay Area.

Mr Erickson Stop meddling with 2 of my favorite radio stations KKSF and KNEW. Mr. Erickson the Palin Format does not sell in San Francisco.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy...John & Ken?  Yeeesh....and we apparently have heard from the only A&G fan in the Bay Area.

Savage just costs too much money...Don't worry, someone will pick him up.

The thing is that Savage and Masters have had to of known this was coming. You can't just tell Savage he is done one night after his show. My surprise is that they did not announce a double shift...leaving KNEW and landing somewhere else. Could it be people really are tired of Savage?

Erickson had nothing to do with the KKSF change.  In fact, he's probably a fan of it.

The station wasn't making enough money anymore. The format is slowly dying all over the country.  It's only a matter of time.

As far as Palin vs. Savage.

It's like a right-wing version of a comparison between Marry Poppins vs. Oscar the Grouch.

I vote for none of the above.

Erickson has outlasted his usefulness in that market.  He has trashed every station in the cluster except his baby, 98.1, which he'll never touch.

I'm not sure they knew. He was delivered the notice at 9 this morning, just before they made the announcement. It sounds like they just dropped it on him.
