..i searched the pirate threads and didn't find my answer...

Last week I was up at Hampton Beach, NH and there was a pirate on 87.9 playing all sorts of stuff...vintage surf, ac oldies etc.

Tonight I was driving through Winchester, MA and received a pirate on 87.9 playing oldies.  The audio and modulation seemed the same as the one I received up on the NH seacoast....

are they the same?  any info on either one?

It has been discussed in the past. It's the same station, located halfway between, in Boxford.

Here A Quick Aircheck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsLmqcpoTqE. This Is How I Recieve It Where I Live. The Station Is Called 87.9 The Wave And It Indeed Does Have An Oldies Format. Its Also Know As Solid Gold Memories 87.9 FM.

Without listening to it I would think it's the Boxford one which I picked up in Haverhill and on Rt 97 heading toward Beverly...there was even a lawn sign I saw saying 87.9 The Wave somewhere around Boxford or Georgetown

Its A Great Station Though. The Only Pirate Station Worth Listening To Around Here. Too Bad They Don't Have A Website.

Hello everyone,

Thank you all for the reception reports on the station. I am surprised to hear that the station has such an incredible range considering what I am using. I think a lot can be said for a clear frequency if I were on any other channel I doubt if I would be able to achieve the same results.

There reason I am here to report that over the weekend, while I was not at home my coax was cut, and in the process my transmitter was damaged.

The coax has been replaced and I am operating at greatly reduced power. I have reported it to the local police we are looking for information leading to the arrest of whomever did this.

I would appreciate any information from the grapevine as I know it will surface soon.

Thank you for listening.

Hmm, that's funny...I don't seem to see an FCC licensed station for that place and that frequency. According to FCC regulations you must be licensed. Well, hopefully you can deal with this and replace it soon so you can resume
your illegal operation.  Roll Eyes (Unless for some reason broadcast at 87.9 MHz is now okay. Perhaps someone down the block from you will also put on a station at 87.9, perhaps at an even higher power. Why not? It's a free country.)

I know, you are providing a service. Maybe the time is now to push the FCC to allow more LPFMs...

Well, I'm off to see my doctor. He never went to medical school and never got a license to practice medicine,
but he charges cheap prices...I'm sure I'm in good hands

Once again, perhaps someone will put their own pirate station right next to yours so you can't hear your favorite.
But hey, you love pirate radio so I'm sure you'd be okay with that. (How about a true variety hits station?
Coming up in the next hour at Pirate 106.3:

Muddy Waters: You Need Love
The Boston Pops: Michelle
Toby Keith: I Wanna Talk About Me
Metallica: Enter Sandman
Slim Whitman: Indian Love Call
Peter Tosh: Legalize It
Tom Lehrer: Silent E
The Weavers Featuring Pete Seeger: Tzena Tzena
The Dead Kennedys: Holiday in Cambodia
Run DMC: My Adidas
Anne Murray: Snowbird

Now THAT's variety! And we're right next to Touch 106 and powering it up so you can't hear them! Smiley
