"The Beat of the Bay" - how original... Hey, I have some old Energy stickers that say that!
And there may be some old "Power 92.7" ones around...
At least they waited until the other station wasn't using the slogan anymore. Radio imaging is famously derivative.
Years ago, Top 40 KYA was
"the Boss of the Bay," then later
"the Rock of the Bay." I recall in the 80s that at least 2 stations used the same slogan at the same time - there was
"More Music KMEL", and
"More Music K-101".
Historically, the Bay Area has had 2 KOITs.
"Star" is on its second use; the first being for the 98.9/99.1 combo in the late 80s. There are some other repeats that my brain can't dredge up at the moment.
I've noticed that among the other minor tweakings, 98.1 has dropped the "FM" in its imaging, in favor of just
"98-1 Kiss."
