Well October is here...Which two of the best under-performing stations in the metro goes Christmas first...Warm or Rose?

Must we? Can't we enjoy Halloween first and discuss this on November 1st?

Why not?  I stopped at Home Depot yesterday, and they were putting up their Christmas decorations.

Ha!  That's slow!  Bon Ton in Carlisle put their window display up right after Labor Day!

It wouldn't surprise me to hear Christmas music earlier this year.  It's big with clients and revenue needs to be generated now.  If this music puts people in the mood to spend more dollars on Christmas this year, I'm all for it.  Those all important 4th quarter earnings and the future of a recovery depend on it.....after all, the first quarter is always weaker...even during better times.  It's a good idea to get some momentum going.

Personally, I wish that practice of playing "All Xmas, all the time" from mid-November on would die....it was OK for the first couple years when it started on Dec. 1, it was new and exciting, but much like inter-league play in baseball and every reality show known to man, its stale and needs to go away. Much like normal playlists in commercial radio, its the same 300-400 songs over and over again. Don't get me wrong, I love the holidays, but if I want that amount of Xmas music..CD's and Ipods can fill the bill.Choices are already limited in this market, why not cyut it down even more with 2-3 stations playing all Xmas music...like somebody's playing something different than anyone else???

I'm with Karlyle.  The answer to "too much Christmas music" is not "even more Christmas music."

A 15-yard penalty to the Babe who started this thread.

I can think of some pretty scary voices and people who have been in this market over the years!  Some male and some female.
