CBS Radio might be stunting with former Smooth Jazz outlet V-98.7, but it looks like the new format is CHR/Pop.
And yes, Rock titles from the Fray and Shinedown have been included along with all the awesome Rhythm crossovers heard on most of the other CBS Radio CHRs.
Check out the temporary website and listen online

Personal sidenote: If they really want the market to take notice the website will take a proactive approach with job classifieds. Unemployment in Michigan currently stands at over 17 percent, which more than likely means it's hovering around 20 percent in Detroit. 18-34 year olds are likely scrambling to find jobs (real ones, not Sales ones with companies that are "expanding"). Moreso than winning cash or prizes what the market is likely seeking is any kind of help.

Also, 987ampradio.com is registered under CBS and if you check out the page, it says that there's a new page coming to 987ampradio.com

A couple things about the classified idea....

1) Right now, the most important thing is getting the word out that there is a new station.  You want NOTHING getting in the way of that.

2) Maybe down the road you can do that. Waaay down the road. If this station is going to be what I think it's going to be, it'll target 18-24s.  There are many more things you need to do with the website to grab that demo.

3) The reason there is such a high rate of unemployment is there isn't any jobs to fill!  If you're going to spotlight a classified section, you'll just wind up spotlighting a blank page.  It's THAT bad.  People will notice the money. People will really try to win that money.

To sum up, you need to build an audience before you can service an audience.

This is very sad. I've been a fan of V98.7 for all these years.

I really question whether Detroit needs another Top 40 station - if you consider 95.5, 96.3, and now 106.7.  But then again, I guess none of those stations are truly "Top 40". 95.5 is kinda close but throws in quite a bit of rap/hip-hop stuff. 96.3 is just a good Hot AC station, and 106.7 is an AWESOME dance-ish station that has some Top 40 flavor in it.

Smooth jazz is now on 98.7 HD 2, so you and every other metro Detroiter need to be informed that they can still hear Smooth Jazz on 98.7 HD 2.

And Clear channel should continue 106.7 FM The FOX on 106.7 FM HD 2, that the great thing about HD Radio, you can keep the old format alive on the HD 2 Channel of the FM frequency.

Keep telling yourself this a benefit, but only 1% of the audience has HD receivers.  More people could probably hear it on their mobile phones.

Didn't Detroit have 2 Top-40 stations in the past?  Remember Q95.5 and 93.1 DRQ?
