Lite 93.5 WSBG not so "lite" anymore?

WSBG was the best listening for me before they went lite.

That was the time when there was no "Bone" yet, so it was a few years ago.

What were they playing? If I remember correctly, it was like a mix between the classics "Hawk", and some current hits.

To me this was great because it kept me "up to date" with music happening at the moment AND also great songs from the past.

I liked the station so much that it was my number one station I listened to, and I live in the Lehigh Valley. I preferred it over 100.7.

Everything today has labels, I don't know what that type of mix was back then, but it was a great station to listen to being a middle aged listener.

I guess radio thinks that people in my category want to hear classics, and like was said, the same 250 songs repeated ad nauseum. This is not the case for my listening taste. I like to hear some new material placed in the mix, as long as it is not too over the edge and out there.

Maybe new material like that doesn't exist anymore, I don't know.

More likely, it is radio's way of classifying every age group with a listening template, which I absolutely abhor.
And if it HAS to be that way, why the same songs day in and day out?

I get a kick that smooth jazz stations are becoming dinosaurs. Heck, even devoted lovers of the format couldn't stand the same 100 tunes over and over and over. With a format like that and that type of music, you would think the playlist would be endless.

If it didn't happen with smooth jazz, it won't happen with any other format.

That is why the internet is the best way to listen to music today.

Active Rock: take the top 250 tested songs, and play them until you can set your watch by them. (Which is usually the case for any HotAC/CHR in the country.) Name it 'The Bone'
One formula for 40 something radio stations...and you wonder why they've gone under...aside from the frivoulous spending and devil may care attitude...

the bone is an excellent radio station, up to date new rock, and a good selection of heavier classics, 3 hours commercial free rock blocks, commercial free Sundays, need I go on?

Even with their dumb mistake of putting the Yankees games on, which I doubt they'll do again, at least I hope not, they still kick ZZO's ass, the only reason zzo does better in the numbers for the valley is because in the west end and northwest ends of the area the bone is very weak at best. But in bethlehem, Allentown, easton, and P-burg, the bone has a city grade signal for the most part, and isn't weak by any means.

Not to mention Gina and Scotty are awesome DJs with great personalities and love the format and the music.

I'm not saying zzo's djs are bad or don't like the music they play, but the bone definitly has a hell of alot better music selection than zzo. Although, zzo has improved slightly. BUT they can do better. I wonder if they ever heard of five finger death punch. I sure hope so, it's on the bone and harrisburgs "x" all the time. MMR even has 5fdp
