No you don't!  You want the Radio Cantico Nuevo format!

They're already on 540 on Long Island. Another station that once had a good format. (Adult Standards). Some of the stuff that they aired when they ran Business Talk Radio Network was pretty good too. And now that 740 is running Radio Korea, I replaced it in my presets in my car with WCBS 880, meaning now the only AM Music station I have preset is a Spanish speaking Music station. WLAT 910 licensed to New Britain, CT.

Absolutely incredible that the most active thread the LI board has seen this year is about this leased-time AM station.  I wonder if that's an indictment about how (un)interesting Long Island radio is in general.

That's because WNYH played great Oldies Music prior to their flip to Radio Korea. Besides. Whatelse is there to report? I mean WALK A/F has been for sale for a few years now and no buyers yet.

someone on Long Island needs to fill the AM oldies void;
maybe Shannon's "True Oldies" channel?

Yes, and it was quite well-known that it was a "filler" until they managed to sell some airtime.

Sure. Someone just needs to buy 540 WLIE from Principle Broadcasting and then evict Radio Cantico Nuevo from the airwaves. Of course someone could buy WNYH from the Korean Doctor, but the station needs so much work it might be cheaper to just buy WLIE.

I was gonna say the whoever buys WALK A/F from Clear Channel (read: ALOHA TRUST) could put it on 1370 AM, but I don't suppose 1370 goes out too far.

The big question is: would the oldies format make more money than what those stations bring in from the paid programming (and 540 in particular, which actually seems to never have trouble selling its airtime)?

According to DCRTV: the Oldies are out at WNYH's sister station WCTN 950 in Maryland. They've gone to a mix of Spanish Music and Talk.

According to this weeks NERW the Pennsylvania station that took the WGSM call letters have dropped them.

In my opinion now is the time for someone to buy WNYH from Dr. Yoon and restore the WGSM calls to 740 AM.

Just like the debate over on the NYC board a few months back over bringing back the WNEW calls to 102.7, I don't think anyone will actually care if the WGSM calls are returned to 740, particularly if it continues its leased-time programming which no one listens to.
