So now we have hip-hop and r&b played on 4 good signals here in metro Detroit, 95.5 FM, 97.9 FM, 98.7 FM and 106.7 FM.

102.7 has a bad signal, and comes in weak even in the inner city of Detroit and their transmitter is northeast of Detroit in Clinton Township, Michigan at 14 mile road and Gratiot.

AMP 98.7 is really a hip-hop and pop music station similar to Channel 955, but the new 98.7 is much more mainstream CHR like a CHR should be.

Hoes gone to win the boxing match in the future ratings with the CHR format in D-Town Channel 955 or 98.7 AMP Radio?

In regards to Hot 102-7, I don't think they will have much longer. They have not made a dent in the ratings, Hell there main competion (WJLB) got 4th place in the september PPM books. 102-7 got like 20th. Maybe smooth jazz could pop up on there. Its a pretty urban format. No sure if R1 runs any Jazz stations though. That would probably put that signal to good use.

Now "Hoes" going to win "the boxing match" in the CHR format, I don't know. Honestly I have my money on Amp. Especially if they have Dom running the station. He's a great guy, and really knows the top 40 audience. And given that he got 9-5-5 too where they are today. It should only be a matter of time 'till he does the same with Amp. You know what, I give 95-5 ATLEAST another 5-6 years, maybe less if Dom can snag Mojo for mornings. Mojo's contract is up within the next two or three years I think.

It's going to be a fierce battle. Domino knows how to do CHR/Pop, and he knows Detroit very well. I was disappointed with the way he launched 92.3 Now in NYC but since then the station's music mix has somewhat improved.
Don't rule Channel 95-5 out as the station's (remotely) programmed by Sharon Dastur. She's done an incredible job with Z-100 in NYC, and if need be CC can always promote someone to locally overseee the programming duties of WKQI.

Sharon dosen't program 9-5-5 anymore. CC brought in Mike McCoy from Columbus back in August.

It will be sad if HOT 102.7 leave Detroit, and then I will have to listen to XM for all my hip-hop.

It took 54 months after 93.1 DRQ left Detroit for us here in Detroit to get a new Top 40 station at 98.7 MHz on FM.

54 months = 4 years + 6 months

I wonder how long it will take Detroit to get a new hip-hop station when HOT 102.7 leave?

HOT 102.7 might be history eventually because WJLB FM 98 at 97.9 MHz is extremely ahead of them in ratings and revenue.
