Hey Hyatt, err, Old Nick,

Give it up dude. You're starting to sound as petty as your pithy blogs.  Double T 104 3 isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Perhaps the folks at KKAM should work on their own house rather than being critical of the competition.  The shows at KKAM are ameturish and tired. Yes, even W&H has jumped the shark.  Hyatt's act tired, Steve Dale is tired, they have what...cigar shows on saturdays??  That there is some quality programming. What, no fishing shows available?  Give me a break.  If anything is stillborn, its KKAM.  This market would be much better without that joke of a station in the market.

Uh, how can a station thats been around more than 20 years be "stillborn" and "a joke"?  Do you even read what you right or does it spill directly from your rear end?  And why would you attack Ryan Hyatt?  Have you done ANYTHING with your career that is near the achievements of Ryan Hyatt?  There are maybe two or three people in this market with Ryan Hyatt's expertise and you're not one of them.  I can say this definitively, because they all have too much class to respond to completely retarded and baseless attacks from the likes of you.

I myself do not care for sports or sports radio.  I care for radio and I know a good one when I hear it-Double T is not one of them.  Maybe they will be someday, but they are not there yet.

Both SPORTS stations SUCK. There is no way around it. And YES... HYATT'S show has lost it's appeal. Does that mean that it sucks? No. However, it's not as entertaining as it used to be. However, THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION. Do not get me wrong, RH is a GREAT GUY and YES... he is very talented at what he does etc... However, the show has lost a step or two. I used to enjoy listening to it. As for DOUBLE T, the station is a mess, just as much as KKAM. If you took the good from both stations and put them together... you would have an "OKAY" sports station.

I think that when it is said that Double T was born stillborn, I think there is some truth there. I mean, ok, you launched.... you carry TECH... and a few NFL games..... what more do you have? As for KKAM.... they lack TECH and have a few NFL games.... what more do THEY have? They both seem to be running on only 50 or 60 percent capacity, for whatever reason you would like to blame it on.

I just don't think the market can sustain two all sports stations.

As an advertiser, we spend dollar across the board but think there is some cannibalization between the two stations.

I think 104.3 missed the mark not moving Tech Talk to the morning. Also their afternoon show pales in comparison to W&H. I think 1340 needs anything fresh to replace the Jack and Steve show.

Will be interesting to see how 104.3 works next weekend. They have been able to mask the weak signal to some extent by having football on 93.7 and 950. Next week they have Lady Raiders, men's basketball and football. That 104.3 signal will be further exposed as the POS it is.

From my listening experience, Lubbock has at least four talk stations with 790, 950, 1340 and 104.3 that stand out above what you'll find in other cities in the region of similar size and makeup. Amarillo has a decent news station, but there's really nothing else unique about KGNC. Go through the rest of West Texas and you don't find much. In fact, there's not much that I've found in this region, it's pretty much the same syndicated content with nothing local.

Some are probably going to like one of the sports stations, some will like the other. Maybe they'll both survive or maybe it'll be a battle for those dollars. A few weeks ago I was waiting on my kids to get here for the Kansas game and I was watching the 104.3 pre-game show on TV. I just decided to turn on the radio and saw they have separate commercials on TV and radio. That means they're probably making money on TV for the cost of a radio show. I am not saying it's huge, but they seem to keep adding ads. The Williams and Hyatt show is still live from different advertiser's locations during the week. Even if it's often infomercial where that person gets to be on the show, their still making money.

Maybe the clients realize those formats can't be copied on an ipod or satellite radio because they have a mix of local and national. I guess we're pretty fortunate in this city.
