That's what I'm talking about. What's surprising is that it's a Clear Channel station too. Seriously, this format could work here. We need something new, refreshing, and energizing and this fits the bill.

Sigh...so many music monitors, like that one, show great mixes of diverse types, while Columbus radio gets the same old crap over and over, duplicated on multiple stations.  Hell, you hear better music at Walgreens than any Columbus station (MUCH better).  And so many of those never-to-be-in-Columbus formats/approaches do extremely well -- although it's obviously too early to tell whether the Groove is one of them.

Not the ones I'm thinking of.  Consistently more listenable than Columbus stations by a long stretch.  I do know different stores within a chain use different "formats," so maybe we're not talking about the same music.   Of course, there's also the possibility we just disagree here even though we tend to agree on lots of other stuff.

   I heartily recommend the Giant Eagle at Kingsdale in Upper Arlington. Sometimes it's all I can do to keep from dancing in the aisles.

I *think* that's sarcasm, but this is one rare occasion where I'm not sure.  One thing that makes some of the retail formats so listenable is not only the variety, but the fact that they are so uptempo, and do indeed enourage dancing in the aisles or at the pump (I guess that one could be dangerous).

Anyway, the following 2006 article that touches on the subject is interesting, although what he's discussing here is far more exotic than the kind of thing I'm talking about:
