Try again. Arbitron 101.
For the total month of October, the new WCAA 96.3 had a 0.9. The montly is based on the 4 weeklies (with tiny weighting adjustments) added, then divided by four.
0 + 0 +0 +3.6 = 3.6, divided by 4 = 0.9. Three weeks of zeros (as the station did not exist until 10/8 by Arbitron standards). Three zeros, a 3.6 in week four, gives a 0.9 for the month.
Arbitron policy requires that a station on a new frequency with a new name and a new format be treated as a brand new station, so the trailing numbers of the old WCAA are available under the listing of a discontinued station.
So, for a station that did not exist until the last, exact, week of the October book (and thus got zeros in weeks 1, 2 and 3) to get a 0.9 for the book, it had to have a 3.6 in week 4.
And, for that week, it beat WSKQ.
96.3 did not change calls to WXNY until the 16th of November, which was the first day of the November book.
Just to keep your mouth shut I'll give you that. But technically, La Kalle NEVER beat WSKQ, and point blank, you said La Kalle was over on 105.9. 96.3 WCAA scored high to the curiosity of promoting a new station like stationless listener said. But I still don't know how you could be bragging about ONE WEEK of "defeat" when WCAA got their behinds handed to them for YEARS by WSKQ. And if WXNY was changed in "November 16" , which now you can predict the future, then WCAA wouldnt have 0.0 for the rest of the month right? But what will matter to me is to see the final result. Let's see how you are gonna make WXNY be at the top of WSKQ. [/quote you got that right! wcaa never beat wskq.. the only show that had some fire there was " el pachatazo" and he killed it already!

For once, something is being done right, and yes, the mixshows on WXNY did catch my attention, ONLY because of the dance music.

The non-stop mixes ended the day before the first week of the November survey period. That was a "stunt" to attract attention to the regular programming. Like any good rhythmic CHR, there are some specialty shows with the same great mixes, but "dance" is only a component of the format, just as it is on stations like Z 100.

Thanks for the info, I will adjust my preset Apparently a lot of presets are being adjusted. This tiny extract from IR shows the extent of the second week's listening: What a difference a signal makes. The first ratings are in from New York where Univision struck a three-way deal with the New York Times for a stronger signal, allowing it to move hurban WCAA (105.9) down the dial and launch tropical “X-96.3” WXNY-FM. The results may be surprising even to Univision, since the formerly classical-formatted signal came without any built-in cume for a Spanish-speaking station. Just-in PPM data for the week of October 15-21 shows the station debuted at #2 among 18-34s with a 6.7 share, second only to Clear Channel’s CHR “Z-100” WHTZ. Among Men 18-34 WXNY-FM debuted in a first-place tie with Emmis’ urban “Hot 97” WQHT, both with a 6 .6 share. In the Women 18-34 demo WXNY-FM ranked #4 with a 6.8 share. http://www.insideradio.com//Article.asp?id=1581497&spid=32061 has the full article. There is a slight error there, in that WXNY is "Spanish Contemporary" (CHR) and not all-Tropical, unless Black Eyed Peas has just recorded a salsa version of their most recent hits.

I really like the station... but I keep hearing that this format will not last and "music only" will not constantly beat WSKQ..(it might beat it short term but not for the long future).yes, it may have good ratings at first but it will slowly fade due to lack of DJ's (el pacha, coco, etc, etc)..
I have no idea where the station is heading into the future..David, is this a temporary/permanent format? or the station will be slowly changing going forward by bringing old/new DJ's and having similar programs like el pachatazo/aranazo?
I mean, I like it the way it is... I just want to have an idea so I can further discuss these issues with my friends and others on the internet who are thinking this format will not last long.
