I have noticed over the past week, that the "Last post" that shows on the main page for each board is actually showing the NEXT to the last post made.  For example, the last 2 posts could be "re: post 1", then the newest being "post 2", and the main page still shows "re:post 1."  If another post is made, let's call it "post 3", then "post 2" would show up.  Make any sense??

The search function has had an error message forever now.

Any plans to fix these things?

Thanks!

We sympathize with any inconvenience these issues have caused.  While repairs are never performed as quickly as everyone would like, the search function hasn't been down "forever".  If you haven't noticed, the site is now running faster and in a more stable fashion.  We've moved to faster, more reliable servers which was an enormous task given the size of our databases.  We realize there are still some unresolved problems with things like emoticons and the search ability.  Like medical triage, we address crucial systems first and move on to others later.  It may seem like nothing is being done.  But in reality, a team of programmers and designers are working away.  That's how we've managed to expand the site and troubleshoot previous issues.  We'll get there but there's only 24 hours in a day.

The things that affect you also affect us.  We are reminded every day just how important every aspect of the site is.  That's why we're working as fast as we can.

Thanks again for your patience.

From what I've seen the search is working at least partially. When I do a search from the top of the page it will pull up results. But when I try to look at my posts in my profile I still get a database error. At least things look like they're heading in the right direction.  Also, the smileys are back!!!  Grin

Our answer really hasn't changed any.  All things we be repaired in due course.  As other users have noticed, noticeable fixes have already been made.  Let's give our technical staff a chance to keep improving the site.

Is it just my Mac Mini, or when trying to post a comment in the discussion board, you have to hit "preview" first...
also mark all topics as read" does not work. I thought for a while on my Dell they worked, so I'm just curious. Thanks.

I'm not sure if it's Macs in general or just yours.  We have numerous Mac users and none have reported the problem you're describing.  As far Windows based machines go, I was able to post this right away without hitting the preview button.

I tested the "mark all topics as read" function right after I first read your post.  I show no problems.  All unread posts have been removed from my queue.

My first impulse would be to upgrade my browser as well as my operating system.  You make no mention if you're using Safari or OS X.  If you're using older versions of these kinds of software, there could any number of unintended consequences.

I'll forward your question to our Director of Technology.  If he has any suggestions on how to resolve these issues, he'll get in touch with you.
