Soupy's best known routine was actually back when he hosted a children's TV show on Channel 5 in New York (then WNEW). A bit perturbed that he had to host the show on New Year's Day, he asked kids to go in their dads' wallets and send him "green pieces of paper with pictures of guys in beards."

I feel so bad whe I heard about Soupy, I as a kid, loved to watch hi on tv and I loved the mouse.
   I had the pleasure of meeting Soupy 2 yrs ago on a NY cruise with wabc radio :-)  He was not well then. RIP my Friend, you made my childhood years!!

I remember Soupy Sales back when he was a regular panelist on a syndicated game show called "What's My Line?" from 1968 until 1975 along with another regular Arlene Francis. RIP. Sad
