I just don't understand some of the music played on KTWV IS music that is played on KOST...c'mon CBS do something else with 94.7

It wouldn't be a bad idea...it would be a good reason to put The Sound out of it's misery...another idea would be FM Sports...CBS already has the Clippers. Put on Bill Plaschke, a couple of other L.A. Times sports writers....**wakes up from dream**

If KTWV were to flip to AC, wouldn't it be very likely to ignore some of the 'hard' classic rock artists (Pat Benatar/Blondie/Eddie Money) that KOST has been playing for ages, without going really soft a la KJOI or KXEZ?

The fact that KOST has lots of sixties-era Motown stuff in their library, and has gotten adventurous enough to play 'American Pie' might be construed to the folks at CBS that KOST's playlist is too wide for 35-44 and 25-54 women to really embrace, in spite of its current ratings and billing numbers, and would be worth going after.

If KTWV flipped from Smooth Jazz to some flavor of AC they would not be blowing up all the billing.  Based on a strong starting line-up (i.e proven PD and talent) and the fact that the demos are somewhat compatible, they'd be able to keep a fair amount of advertisers in the fold.  I was sales manager for a station that flipped from Gold-based AC to country some years ago and based on strong pre-selling and relationships we had with buyers and clients, we were able to retain a fairly healthy percentage of our billing.  Of course, you're going to have to deliver on the back end, but with PPM books every month, you should be able to document any progress you're making pretty quickly.
