It was said this morning Rock 103's John "Bad Dog" McCormack has been diagnosed with Acute AML (Leukemia).  Starts intensive chemo immediately.  Thoughts and prayers to him and his family.

On-air and engineering from 1976 to 1997 in markets ranging from #86 to #2. Fortunate to have witnessed the last great days of AM Top 40, and the last great days of independently programmed, creative personality radio...

Wow. I heard part of that on the TV news but I didn't get the name. Thanks for posting that. I've known John since he was in his first radio job with me at WMQM in 1979 or 1980. Prayers.

John was back on today....from home.  Listened on line.   Keep praying for him,  he's not out of the woods yet...not even close.

AML is tough.  My wife has had many, many AML patients over the years.  But, as she points out, often attitude is a major component to a good outcome.  And, I think we can all agree that Mr. McCormack is rich in attitude.

Let's all hope the numbers keep looking good.

Great article about him in today's (01/14/2010) Commercial Appeal - I'd link it, but I dont' wanna get in trouble, ya'll know where to find it.

He's still one of the 'Best Of Memphis" overall.  Wish him nothing but the best.

He is arguably the greatest Memphis radio personality of the last twenty years, if not of alltime. I hope he gets well soon.
