If Premier has done this to WPTF and WSJS, I wonder if they're planning something similar in Charlotte with WBT?  If they DID pull Rush from WBT, they would likely put him on WBCN 1660, which might be a bit risky.

Something to keep my eyes on.

Later . . . .

I doubt it due to the fact CBS owns 1660 rather than CC.

An FM talker may be good, especially in Greensboro -- it could probably beat the 600/1200 simulcast if done well and with Rush.

Greensboro already has an FM Talker with WZTK 101.1!  We don't need two FM Talkers PLUS 88.5 WFDD's NPR!!!  As for WGBT, ratings aren't everything.  I think that station pulls in a nice chunk of change and most of it is cash business!  As for a local talk program, CC Greensboro DOES have former liberal talk show host, Dennis Elliot.  Dennis in years past had a liberal talk show on WMFR AM and it drove the local conservatives wild!  He knows how to do it if they want local talk flavor.  Would be a great counter-Rush program to present both sides.  I just don't want to see Talk 101 hurt in this.  They've been brave to start an FM talk station in this market and I hate to see CC screw it up for them.

If FM Talk 101.1 WZTK loses the battle, it will mean that Clear Channel has the better product and promotion.  It's business.

There is a third Curtis AM airing Rush Limbaugh...News Talk 1150 WGBR in Goldsboro.  I haven't heard them mentioned, but it stands to wonder if and/or how they will be affected by this.

If a new CC talk station is going to take on WZTK, they will need more than just Limbaugh.  What other shows will the new station have?  Hannity and Beck?

http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,155378.0.html

Will the new station have any local programming?  What news organization will they use?

If WSJS does replace Limbaugh with a local program, talk listeners will have one more choice.

Personally, I've been tired of Rush Limbaugh for years. This guy, along with Sean Hannity, are the two biggest bags of wind to ever hit radio. All they do is talk negatively about anything that doesn't fit in to their personal agenda. They both think they know it all about everything. Their egos are far too big and they are so grossly overpaid that its sickening.

If they both disappeared from the air today it would be a victory for all of us.

...agree with you Private Sector.  Rush is the ultimate "Showman".  It's a well honed act,
and he's very good at it, but it has grown tiresome.

Hannity and Beck are just scary!

The misinformation that comes out of their mouths is damaging.  Stations that air the guys these
guys should be branded as TALK, not NEWS/Talk.

Show like Clark Howard and Dave Ramsey are mass appeal.  We need more like them.

I can't get a grip on 101.1....is it considered a Raleigh or GB/WS/HP station?  I'm sure there would be exclusivity issues but they could air Neal Boortz or Clark Howard.  There's also Laura Inghram and Mike Gallagher (he's on down here in Greenville, don't like him)
