The Radio Rambler

« on: November 01, 2009, 08:53:04 AM »

I was listening to "The Wolf" where the Yankees are still in the World Series. They started back on Wednesday where they carried the World Series with no, not John Sterling and Susyn Waldman from WCBS which was heard on WCBS-FM's HD3 channel, it's from ESPN Radio. Good for you, WCBS-AM also has the World Series with John and Susyn, but you can heard it because of interference issues, but it's barely listenable, or 1050 in New York City also carried the World Series from ESPN, but you can't hear it due to overlapping 1050 CHUM in Toranto at night. 50 kw station in New York.

If "The Wolf" still carries the "World Series" from ESPN, I hope if there is a speculation that 94.3 and 97.3 are decided to change the format from country to all sports which would be "94.3/97.3 ESPN", I don't see it happening anytime soon. HUdson Valley hasn't had a sports station in the last 5 years the 1340 and 1390 pulled the plug on ESPN when it fliiped to a spanish station "El Ritmo" and then to "Radio Disney". That was a long time ago. I hope if you want to hear sports talk try "Fox Sports Radio" on WGHQ, WBNR and WLNA, it is a lot better than ESPN Radio, and it will be on from 5 PM until 6 AM everyday.

MLB rules specified that only the Flagship stations can carry their own coverage of the World Series. All other affiliates can either air the ESPN Radio feed or nothing at all.

but the Say either Yankees/Phillies Radio Network affilliate has a station in the market that carries ESPN Radio's MLB Radio Packet all season long, the Network affliliate is out for the world Series since the Network affliliate gets first rights. and I believe since WCBS is the Yankees. flagship Station. WEPN cant carry ESPN's network broadcast due to allowing Flagship station carrying the broadcast exclusive market rights. That happens in the NFL when the Teams Flagships stations in the home markets get the exclusive rights over the westwood one Broadcast. it happened that way when the Colts were in Super Bowl 41 When Colts Flagship Station WFBQ carried the Colts Home broadcast over WNDE getting to carry the Westwood One Broadcast in Indianapolis
