Well, he's still there.  That had to be a part of his plan.  Spanish language programming is gone. again that had to be a part of his plan.  Do I think that he really knows what he's doing.  No not really.

Format changes are certainly not decided on by a local GM in a group operator situation. This decision had to do with issues higher up than the ones brought up by the local manager.

I agree that your probably right in most circumstances.  But Austin and BMP don't really jive with most circumstances.  The word on the street here in Austin is that Jerry made the calls.  Perhaps with the blessings of Larry Patrick the trustee of the lenders.

The launch of The Big Talker 98.9 sounded pretty Mickey Mouse, no offense to Mickey,  I don't know what that means other than perhaps it was all done in haste.  I find it hard to accept that a rational radio operator does what BMP has done in Austin with competent leadership higher up.

If what you say is true, things could get even more interesting.

Station really does sound amateurish. You'd think they'd hire a major market PD or bring in a consultant with some skins on the wall in talk. They sure screwed up efforts at liberal talk a few years back. Austin doesn't need a third, third rate conservative talk station. Being on FM won't help much when the product sucks.

Dose anyone have the correct website for 98.9 The Big Talker? This is the only site that has been posted on the web for this new talk station on 98.9: http://www.989bigtalker.com and it's presently not active, at least not yet.

Wow ... their Web site is a joke. Basically nothing more than a splash page full of typos.

Wow this page looks like it was done on Microsoft Word. I see they spend BIG TALKER bucks on it... Undecided They even said they are serious about making a splash in Austin radio. The artwork and typos definitely make a splash Cheesy

Six months will this station last....then it's on to Spanish talk, some religious thing, or something else inconsequential.

Streamed the station yesterday and they said on the air the site is in it's very early preliminary stages. The reason they put up so early
was to allow people to be able to audio stream the station and that's all it's really useful for at the moment.
