Don Barrett at LA Radio.com is reporting that KABC will begin airing infomercials in afternoon drive.  Is this the beginning of the end for a once great radio station?  Actually, the beginning started a while ago.  This is sort of pulling the chain on the toilet to start the flush cycle.  Very sad.

A week from today .....  Though my guess is they'll air 6 - 7 pm.  I guess that's still considered 'drive time'?

It sounds, to me, like KABC is not only re-arranging the chairs on the Titanic, but they are now opening the ports to let more water in.

I bet Bob Moore wishes he hadn't fired Timmy Conway Jr. - he's an infomercial specialist!

I really don't know what is so shocking about that. Most of these shows sound like talk shows and they have virtually taken over the airwaves on most stations over the weekend and I guess no one complains so this may be the trend as stations find themselves financially strapped.

I don't think Levin will take the hit, but more likely it will be taken out of John Phillips time, which no one listens to anyways. So KABC gets paid for an hour that previously registered no listeners so not a bad business move.

And that's the problem.  It's only a business move.  A desperate one at that.  Stupid...

And coming soon, after the bankruptcy filing by Citadel - Bankster Radio!
