WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!!!

As I mentioned on yuku.com, we are officially mourning the end of Pulse 87. We finally had a station we felt was our own... a local station that advertised and supported LOCAL business, a station that knew and understood its community and what it NEEDED to hear.

I DO NOT support Party 105 playing its corney long island mix in Queens while advertising Suffolk county businesses. Pulse 87 even had a float in this year's Greek Independence Day parade, among other promotions at local mom & pop businesses.  It was a local station for it's local listeners.

I actually looked forward to driving back towards Queens and picking up 87's week signal... I knew i was heading home.

The demographic is different in Queens than Suffolk, and the DJ that I heard on the radio today around 6 PM with DJ Surge that sounds like the TGIF waiter in the movie Office Space with the flair isn't going to cut it.  SORRY.

As a local small business owner myself, I feel we have lost more than just another radio station, but a voice that reflected the community on the air amongst so many commercial stations.

And what's this about the Original Hot 97?Huh I had to look down and make sure I wasn't wearing Z Cavaricci's or that my jeans weren't rolled up!

Guys, its 2009 going on to 2010. The economy is bad and the general feel air is gloomy. WE NEED NEW, FRESH THINGS NOT A BLAST FROM THE PAST! I remember listening to Hot 103 when it became Hot 97.... LEAVE IT IN THE PAST!

ON BEHALF OF ALL THE LISTENERS IN ASTORIA AND THE BUSINESSES THAT INVESTED IN ADVERTISING AND SUPPORTING THE STATION, BRING PULSE 87.7 BACK AND REMOVE PARTY 105.1 FROM QUEENS AIRWAVES. SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS!

Astoria, NY

OK... so let's start with YOU ARE A MORON... now that that's out... Pulse could not pay the bills, and while I feel bad that they couldn't build a business model to survive you should count yourself lucky you did't get a russian format or something back.  You have not even given the folks at JVC  a chance... your big gripe is that they are playing Suffolk County commercials in NYC... give them a bit more than a day...  I'm 100% certain that the people at JVC are gonig to have a local studio and have local spots... duh... This harsh critisism would be warranted if 5 months passed and they were still not serving your community... Get a grip.

BTW... just read your latest post... sounds like you're getting it... good for you!

12:18 PM .... the back in the day buffet??? is this for real???

old songs spead up?  whiney houston's "I get so emotional" spead up?  so am i moron for thinking this is retarded?

just what I need to hear during lunch... not an hour long custom mixed compilation of serious dance music, maybe unveiling a new artist or a new song from overseas, no.... but Whitney!

this is exactly what I meant... nyc dance listeners are not about the korney mix.  we a traveled bunch of listeners, 1st and 2nd generation americans from immigrant parents, that are craving what we hear on the radio when we go on vacation overseas.

TIESTO!!!!!!!! GRACE NYC AIRWAVES WITH YOUR MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and not just with one song either!)

to the powers that be, i hope you are listening... you want to do something right?  take what is playing right now on the radio, nov. 3rd back in the day buffet, AND DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE!!!  i dont want to listen to a long island bar!!!

and you know what, i hope Part 105 DOESNT change, for the sake of ITS OWN listeners.  why should they change their format to accommodate our needs here in the city???

if its works for them, that should be enough.  theyre going to ruin it for long islanders because management is getting greedy trying to expand to much.

WE NEED A DEDICATED STATION. PERIOD.

Sitting back and giving things time is what got us as a nation in the mess we're in......

Regards,
Tom

I think people should start making arrangements for my funeral and put me on a suicide watch because I AM DYING to say something right now! DEAD SERIOUS! .... But I wont even start.

The temptation to want to say something is extremely high at the moment, but this is not the time or the place to get into those type of issues.

kdm... you know what i meant.  dont twist it.

how is a radio station's management supposed to know what we want to hear?  telepathic powers?

gotta speak up, and not sit back and wait, and that can be applied to many situations.

I think Joel Salkowitz would be clever to reimage his "Original Hot 97" Live365 web stream as "Pulse 87" with the Emma Clarke voiceovers and Pulse playlist (which Original Hot 97 basically seems to play already, doesn't it?).

Of course it would not be the same without the personalities, but I think the Pulse branding with its more modern sound would be a better match to the current music mix than the old Hot 97 sweepers.
